Windshield / dash buzzing

Just finished up a drive from Utah to California with the family and discovered a very annoying problem.  I have a buzzing noise coming from the windshield at higher speeds 60+. It's very loud. Like a huge bee or dragonfly stuck in the dash. I've read this is a common problem if the windshield has been replaced.  Mine was replaced 2k ago by the dealer I bought the car from as a CPO item.

We verified it's not interior parts and it's not the wipers.   If you've had this happen what was your solution?

Thanks.

I had this. It's most likely the plastic cowl outside the car right "under " the wipers so to speak. I replaced all of the clips with ribbed push type and used some double sticky 3m body tape underneath to try and tack it down. It's 10 times better than it was but every once in awhile it will still flutter.

We have had similar issues with one of our new vehicles after some drive time.  We found on the 2015 Mustang that there was excess urethane / rubber around the windshield that needed to be trimmed.

You mentioned it's not wipers but I know for a fact that when I use Rain-x wipers I get some buzzing from time to time but if I use say the OE style ones (Bosch I think) I get no noise at all.  Just sayin'.

Wiper chatter?  Known to happen.  Are they moving or parked at the time, r1?

I certainly agree with everyone above, hopefully they installed the replacement windshield properly, personally would start by removing the wiper arm cover so you can gain access to the wiper arm nut and make sure the nuts are fairly tight with a socket wrench, many times installers are all about rushing the job and getting the next car in,instead of double checking everything and verifying the install was satisfactory.  Z

The wipers were parked and not being operated when the buzzing occurs, sir.  Rough speed is anywhere from 60-80+ (especially noticeable with strong cross winds) and they would make noise.

I only mention this because I had this issue when I had my windshield replaced and I made 3 trips to Safelite to get the issue resolved.  They even put the messy butyl/beutel tape on the windshield cowl (like what everyone says is the problem) and the noise was still present.  Only when I took an installation tech with me on a drive did we identify the cause.

EDIT:  If you're hearing the chatter/buzzing noise turn on the wipers one time and see if the noise stops and returns. :D

Wiper noise was the first thing I ruled out by using them.   Zero change in noise during their operation.   I'm taking the car out tomorrow for a drive to the beach.  I do have my tool kit with me and will make sure everything looks tight.  So dumb that several people have had wind noise issues with $45k+ cars. I searched on google and found a ton of folks with the same sound.  Even found a guy on youtube post a video and it was identical.  If I can't shake it I may have to ghetto it and try tape for the drive back.  750 miles of that buzzing and I will loose my s***.

Had that, too, with our 15 GTC

Okay quick update.  Ran down and checked the lower windshield cover.  Looks like the rubber piece is missing a bunch of clips that secure it on.  Hopefully securing it with a zip tie and some tape until I get it back to the local dealer will work.

Yes, the glass is OE Ford.

Tape wouldn't stick worth a damn on the cowl area.  However after researching other's video's and issues this is likely my problem.  I'm making an appointment with the dealership to take it in.

I'm interested to see what comes of this. I recently (1,000ish miles ago) had my windshield replaced with a Ford OEM one as well and have the same issue.

I haven't had the time to have the installer go for a ride yet so maybe this will help address my issue also!

Check your windshield wipers. I had countless issues; streaks, crappy wiping, and annoying buzzing on highway. I fought Ford and got new windshield. Didn't solve it. I've gone through 12 different blades and different manufacturers. Didn't solve it.

But... The other day I got pissed and I bent my driver side arm in more. So that it put more pressure on windshield. Solved. My wipers work the way they are supposed to and two 300 miles trips to Orlando have resulted in ZERO buzzing on my windshield.

Might want to take a look at your arms. I don't know if it's defect or if I did something when I first bought my car, however bending them in fixed my issue.
