I hope the new sho gets a upgraded awd system. If we even get a sho in the next gen. Just put an order in for a 15 lariat sport with the 3.5. Should be cool to see how it does with a tune now that it's lighter.
I've never understood the hate of our AWD system.

Driven various AWD vehicles and I find ours just as competent.

Repeatedly walked a 750 LI out of the box and he couldn't believe it. We had a long conversation about launch technique afterward...Wasn't very happy about his 100K+ Bimmer being out launched by a Ford Taurus, lol.

Snow, twisties, drags... doesn't matter the car always feels sure footed and predictable to me.

I'm doubting any change from Ford due to CAFE concerns. The ability of our system to decouple is one of the reasons our 4-600 HP cars can still achieve 20 MPG.

Didn't say I hated it. Just wish it could put down a more even share of power. The car does great in snow. Only time I want more traction is when it's snowing on the inside of my engine.

I didn't have traction issues till I added meth so no its not ford's fault, the car did fine before I modded it. All I want is a more tolerant system.

Based on my original tires just hitting 16k on the F1'S,the rears have more tread than the front, which is telling me the front have a 60-40 PTU RATIO which is pretty darn good considering the weight in the front.

The reality is no one knows exactly what system or what the capabilities truly are. Every publication says something different.

I can say that with my recent tune revision plus rain it is quite easy to move her big ass sideways with the happy pedal.

No way any system that is front biased and has an open diff and a transfer unit with an oil capacity of a child's milk carton is any good. Just no.

Actually with the weight distribution of these cars, the split makes perfect sense.

Agreed on open diff and PTU fluid.

The Bone

With all the problem I am having with my SHO no way would I get a new one. My problems have been small but there are so many that i wonder what Ford was thinking when they used the parts they did.
1 Shifter handle replaced 3 times.
2 The chrome on taillights replaced all 4 and one i paid for.
3 The 2 plastic strips on the roof got nasty for some reason and I had to replace them. I paid for.
4 The driver lower seat cover has been repaired 3 times and is still not right. For some reason someone weather at Ford or not denied the repair. It was fixed but continues to come undone at the front. I was told at customer care that I may have to cover some of the cost. Not happy at all about this one.
5 Had to replace a tire that came apart on the inside. The tread separated from the sidewall. Its a good thing that I had it in for a oil change service guy was inspecting the tires and found the problem. Not Fords fault on the tire but Goodyear wouldn't warranty the tire. It still had 8/32"s tread left.
For the most part I love my car. My wife loves it to. Lots of power and mechanically the car is a blast to drive. It's the little things that are maki9ng me sad.
I am in the market for a new truck and have been looking at the F250 but with the lack of help from Ford on the seat cover I may buy from one of the other guys.
Please Ford step up and make my car right. The car is almost 3 years old and is already costing me money :(

So far, I would totally get another one. But I would also be waiting 2-3 years. Just seeing how much value dropped on what the window sticker was compared to what I paid for mine.... Couldn't justify it!

Everything else being equal, no burnouts, fronts will wear quicker due to turning and stops are harder on the front tires.

I was afraid leasing my 2013 would be a bad idea. I only changed to a CAI, and Livernois tune and 20% tints. The car got hit a couple months after I got it in a Tbone. Lady hit me 60mph running a red light and I had quite a few injuries. I would have been killed if I was in my previous Ford Focus, so for that the car served me well. But it took over 3 months to repair, it was not totaled because the repair estimate was under 50% but it ended up costing $32k and Ford didn't have parts available for the rebuild for 3 months. I drove rentals covered by insurance since the car could not be completed in time which included a camaro that I beat the hell out of, and smoked the tires down a few thousand miles. I also got to drive around a BMW 328i with Xdrive and that was fun in the snow. Then I got it back, a week later a teenage girl that just got her license was texting through the apartment complex, and hit the SHO, $6k more damage.

Fast forward to many repairs over the past 2 years in addition to the accidents damage and the car has been a headache. This summer some connection came off not long after a scheduled maintenance throwing CEL codes that I thought was the tune. It was not, and Livernois was so helpful and patient trying to figure out all the erros. My transmission was replaced in the accident damage and it used to slam into gear at low speed with or without the tune. I also had the clicking on the left wheel that the dealer kept saying "couldnt replicate". Then just last month the SHO died on the highway on a sunday afternoon. It was the Fuel pump and relay, even though I had the recall done during the summer. This car has had it.

I have 11 months to go, and because of a move this summer racked up ridiculous mileage sitting now at 28/30k miles on my lease and the car needs new tires. So I decided to stop in my dealership and see if there were any options regarding the Explorer Sport and sure as s*** I left there yesterday with a swap scheduled for this Thursday for a 2015 Sport. Livernois will transfer vehicles once at no charge, and I have a brand new K&N panel from the SHO that will work in the Sport. I am tinting next weekend. One other problem I never liked, is not long after I got mine in 2012 did the police editions come out. Now with tints the SHO looks like your either a cop buff or people think your cop.

Its been fun but I missed having an SUV, and always regretted selling my 2006 Trailblazer SS. Other then the Jeep SRT (which is priced way too high) nothing really fit that bill, but the Sport with the tune comes damn close for me with a 4WD system, and the bonus is now I can Tow! I track motorcycles and for 2 years have been begging and borrowing to get to the track, no more! I have smoked some serious cars with the SHO, and always laughed at the lower end imports that tried to race the SHO. But the time has come for me to break away, maybe come back after the Sport.

Man, you've had some tough luck with the '13 SHO!  After accident repairs, a vehicle is just never the same.  I hope your XSport future is pleasantly eventful :)

I did 15K or so worth of damage to my 2006 Mustang GT and she been more or less bulletproof without any major problems till she became my Weekend car after getting the SHO.

As for getting another SHO, it all depends. Right now I if I was in the car market, I'd want to get a Fusion ST (if was made) to replace the SHO, since the SHO is a bit on the big side for my likes externally. I still have about 4years left of car payments on the SHO, so new car for myself is at least 6-7 years down the road.

My wife will wind up getting an Edge or maybe an Explorer as her next car to replace the Escape she has now.

Well, you got a better deal than I, Scott, coz same can't be said for our '99 Mustang OR '08 Pilot after much less expensive damage :(
