has anyone gone the route of drag radials for the strip? if so did you go with  shorter tire to end up with a lower gear ratio and how much shorter did you go?  what kind of improvements did you gain.

I know I, along with a few other pioneers of the platform, came to the consensus that DR's were pointless in an AWD application when at the track.

One would never really get them warmed enough in order for them to be of any real benefit.

DR's are perfect for AWD in my opinion (all 4 corners w DR's).

DR'S require "very little" burnount and have a much bigger contact patch than street tires (Hoosier and MT may be the best options)

The guys who say you are having traction issues (lower 12's or lower) you may get enough spin on them to create the heat that is required to bring the special compounds to surface.

The guys who are running in the higher 12's, the bigger contact patch by itself can give an improvement in traction.

And don't forget, smaller diameter DR lowers your gear ratio in a way.

Disclaimer: this post by no means is a knock on anyone, just my humble opinion. 

Done it works great and I have a set for sale. Only need them on the front.  275/50/17 M&H work great on 17x8 wheels. 
There's info around here but I didn't need to warm them up at all, just having the additional width and traction made a huge difference.

No the OD doesn't match.
I still have the complete set $600 + shipping for them.
Includes M&H 275/50 drag radials and some inexpensive rear tires on the back and 18lb wheels.
The tires can hold the power, just need to be able to figure out how to brake boost the car high enough.

do you know of hand how much taller or shorter your dr's are than the stock 20" 2013 pp tires are.  its late and im being to lazy to break out the calc.

They're a 28" tall drag radial.
I also have some 26" tall slicks but for me they were too short.

275 size, minimum width I would recommend is 9 inch. Otherwise, there is a Chance of tire bulking up and wearing more in the middle than on side near the edges. Less traction as well. However, certain brand run smaller width as compared to other brands of same width. So depending on brand/size, you might be okay. I know for fact that nitto drag radials run a bit smaller in width as opposed to certain other brands.
