So I had the Flex at the dealership about a year ago for a few things, one being a ticking noise at start up.  They said they couldn't replicate the noise (not sure how, it does it EVERY time...) and said everything looked in order.

Fast forward to today...the noise is still there, seems a bit louder now.  It will tick 6-8 times.  It sounds like a metal on metal tick, clank, etc...and no it is not the blend door click, that is a separate issue.    So a few weeks ago, it made the same noise when I was playing around.  It did it at about 5000rpm and I backed out quickly!  The sound is like a brass check valve closing if you have ever heard that, so my mind went towards possibly a WG issue?  I could see something like that at full boost if the actuator is having issues, but not sure why I would hear it at startup.

Anyone heard/hear a noise with their car?

There's the constant ticking noise the HPFP makes, but haven't heard any ticking other then that one...which kinda caught me off-guard when I first heard it.

I hear it too.  I freaked at first.

Nope.   Not constant.   Does it about half a dozen times each time you start the car and it has done it a a few times on some WOT runs... At the dealership now or I would get a video of it...

Beside the HPFP clicking noise, the 2nd thing is the cam Phasers. They'll clatter for about a half 2nd on start up, and thats normal. But if still audible long then that, a oil change maybe in order. Todays cars are very finicky about the oil and filter you use, while oil pressure is critical, flow is just a critical. And this where all filters are different. So I recommend motorcraft oil filters and a quality synthetic oil of manufactures weight spec.

We'll  see what they come back with.  It has done it for as long as I can remember and the dealer has done all oil changes except one...

You using full synthetic over Motorcraft semi-synthetic? I just did my first oil change and I was thinking about this -- wondering if I should get the next oil at dealership to be full synthetic instead.

I switched right away from syn-blend to full synthetic.  Motorcraft that is.

Well the dealer is taking a serious look at the noise...they aren't sure what it is yet, but they said they don't really like it...Updates tomorrow hopefully!

Me too, I've been using Royal Purple, only difference is I have also been using Royal Purple filters.   Just FYI, I change oil and filters at 3K intervals.

Nice to know they haven't dismissed the noise...hope they can find it and get it fixed quickly for you.  Keep us updated.

Well came back that they found a "memo" Ford put out about the noise being known, but and not affecting the life of the motor...

When I get a copy of said "memo", I will scan it and post it up here...

Why are you guys using fully synthetic? The only car I use that in is my blown mustang and the oil temps get upto like 280 degrees on wot runs in the summer. What kind of oil temps are you seeing?
