Troy sent me a message about a dash mounted tablet that was a quick and easy install.
Use this code to save some $$ CMNT50DC
I ordered 2 days ago and got it today. It works really well, it holds the tablet and is not falling off the dash. It's a suction mount just like the GoPro vehicle mounts so it's easy to install.

Next step is I need some help color matching and formatting gauges to match the dash so it looks cool.

That does look simple, clean and functional. Good find.

Sweet!  I wish it would work on the SHO.

Here is what my current set up looks like.

I have a plastic plate held to the speaker grill with self adhesive Velcro and the mount is an inexpensive universal GPS mount from Staples. I fastened one of the provided mount adapter to the back of the Nexus with 3M body mounting tape. If I decide to stick with this set up I will work on the cosmetics of the panel covering the speaker grill. I'm waiting because this is like mount # 6 or 7. I'm loosing count but so far I like this one the best so far.

Bringing this thread back from the dead.
I ended up using a modified cell phone windshield mount i found at tjmaxx on clearance.
Sorry I don't have any pics before the process started.
I drilled three holes I the back and installed 3 high strength neodymium magnets.

You can kind of see them behind the covering I put over the unit.

I had an extra back plate from a mountek phone mount I installed on the back of my tablet cover.
I used 3m moulding tape on the plate.

Here it is installed, I don't have navigation so I have a small "ledge"that the tablet sits on.
But the magnet holds the majority of the weight.

Works very well and it's very easy to remove the tablet.
Tablet is an asus memo hd7.

Can you see the screen during the day?  I've been playing with Torque Pro only phone but have not been pleased with visibility with sunlight. Maybe a bigger screen would help.

Yes, you can see the screen perfectly. There is a little foward tilt to the tablet that cuts down on the glare. I also have an anti reflective screen protector. It also helps if you turn your screen brightness up.

I tried a magnet set up with my Nexus 7 as my first design. Worked great but the tablet got real squirrelly. Took it off the mount and it worked fine. So I gave up on magnets. I took out the center speaker in case it was close enough to affect the tablet. Maybe it was just the Nexus. Hope yours is immune to the magnets.

Asus actually makes the google nexus.  The memo hd7 is basically the same without the more powerful processor but it has a micro sd slot. I heard stories about magnets messing with the gps but no problems yet.

Maybe your plate is protecting it. I used 3M mounting tape to adhere three large washers to the back of the tablet and had the magnets on the mount with 3M tape also. Looked good and was a dream to remove and replace. The software just got real buggy. Fun using the tablet with Torque for sure!
