New pads and rotors

Well I seriously debated upgrading the front end pads and rotors but couldn't bring myself to do it.  Since my car is just a daily driver right now I saved some money and just bought standard rotors up front and went with the cmax premium pads at AutoZone.  I've been using them on the back as well and they perform well and hold up fine.

My stock pads and rotors had 77,000 miles on them.  There was still life in the pads but the rotors were wearing on the outer edges and I was getting a lot of noise and weird pulling up front.  I think they may have been warped a little, not sure.

Everything feels great up front now, I just wish the pedal was more firm, the 2010 master cylinder leaves much to be desired.   I may have a little pressure leakage through the master cylinder seals as well, as I can sit in park and mash the pedal and feel the pressure bleed off very slowly.  It's not an issue right now as I can still lock the brakes easily, but something to keep in mind in the future for sure.

One thing for sure is the new rotors have a larger finished area, as the old ones had at least a quarter of an inch on the inner and outer edge that was rough and I could feel the pads wearing on it after about 40,000 miles.

Looking good, Nate, and more importantly, working well :thumb:

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I'll have to put up a pic of the stock rotors, you'll be amazed at how much area they left unfinished on the rotors surface.

M2 please

My rotors (8K mi) have an area outside the pad contact on the edge about a quarter inch that look like you describe although not real big irregularities in the surface, just rusty.  Not sure that it's avoidable.  Makes you think that the corrosion (the rotors rust every time I wash.. orange by the time I'm dry) could build up and interfere with pad life and function.

The stock pads will contact the whole surface, but as you can see it's not all finished.  Eventually you will see it start to grind on this surface and you will feel it in your brakes.  Especially at low speeds.

That's ugly and not right , bad tempering and initial surface turn by mfg .
Ford uses multiple vendors for brake parts , it could have been a bad lot .
It looks like a lot of surface pitting on the rotors .
