Over a year ago I was doing a long pull on the interstate. When I slowed down and went to accelerate again I hear the squeal/whistle once the turbos spool. Never could figure out what it was... Until now!

Looks like something got in my intake at some point. Who knows where it's at now. Hopefully stuck in the IC.

Cool!  Are you running a stock intake BTW?  Wonder how this happened.

I was running the AIRAID when it happened. I'm guessing a small cinder or something from winter driving?

Stress fracture on fin blade    .... Mfg defect maybe ?!?!?

It's bent.  Something came in contact with it.

A good justification for stock turbo impeller upgrade (4DR can help) or new ATP BIG turbos!

I agree that the dealer will probably say it had solid contact..... but you could try and maybe he'll give you a new stocker!  All they can do is say no and it's definitely the less expensive way to start.

I'm putting my upgraded turbos on as I type this so it's no big deal.

I didn't take any pics yesterday. Still waiting on oil line parts so I didn't get the new ones on completely. I have the car sitting up HIGH on jack stands so it makes it much easier.

Downpipes weren't bad to get off just need a good assortment of extensions and flexible ratchets. The rear downpipe to turbo bolts were easiest to get off with long extensions through the passenger wheel well. I had them both off in in under an hour. Letting some of the bolts soak in PB blaster.

The front turbo was obviously the easiest. Again, combinations of extensions and swivels help. It was off in under an hour. Doing half the work from the top and the other half from the bottom.

Rear turbo isn't necessarily hard just time consuming. Getting the heat shields off and that engine lift bracket off sucked. Hanging over the engine getting half the bolts off by feel and squeezing my hand back down in there to get the oil line unhooked and coolant banjo bolts. Once that's done the turbo brackets and turbo to manifold weren't bad. I used a few long extensions to get my breaker bar up past the engine and popped them loose. Once that's done then the fun is getting the turbo wiggled out.

I'll try to remember to get some pics of completing the reinstall.

Moderator - if you want to change the title to this thread to turbo install ill take pics of the reinstall which will be helpful to some.

Here are some pictures showing how to wiggle the rear turbo out.

First, take the heat shield off the steering rack.

At this point I removed the waste gate allowing me to push it back up in and rotate the cold side towards the driver side letting it come down out.

I always double check my air filter/tube for debris while its is off..
