The set of 534s showed up today.
I've already pulled then out, and checked gapping. I ordered them from Rock Auto, where I do most of my online car/truck part business. Arrived here in 3 days, for $27 shipped.  Can't beat that.

Shameless plug aside (harhar), they arrived gapped at approximately .035. I adjusted them to .030 with a feeler gauge.

Ready to go in. Was intending to tackle it tonight, since this weekend I'm pulling the LCAs on the Neon. But, may not have the time this evening.

I'm still willing to document the procedure, if the community would like a simple how-to.

That's really strange that your plugs came gapped at 35 and mine came gapped at 30. I got mine from an auto parts store on Amazon for $32 shipped.  Maybe there was a $5 gapping fee.  :clown:

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

My OE plugs were all gapped uniformly at .035. They looked pretty good, too. Not a big surprise, with only 11K miles on the odo.

I dropped the new plugs to .030.

I have been following this thread with interest.  According to the owners manual, the recommended gap for my 2010 is .033-.037.  I checked the manual for a 2013 SHO and found the exact same recommended gap.  I understand going to .030 if you are running extra high boost levels, meth, upgraded turbos, etc.

I am just running the 2012 version of LMS stage 4/93 octane.  I might try Torrie's tune at some point but have no intention of running meth or doing anything more exotic than what I already have.  I am going to replace my plugs with SP534s as routine maintenance.  What benefit would there be to gap them at .030 versus the recommendation of the manual?  Typically, I would expect a larger gap to be better - assuming the coils are strong enough and the boost doesn't blow out the spark.  I have no idea what my current plugs are gapped at but I have never experienced a problem with misfires or any other issues.

Thoughts?

LMS recommends a gap of 30 when running a tune.  That's what I did this past week.  Runs great.

We all know that the SHO literally eats electrodes... I am assuming that the 3.5TT MKS is the same.  Could be a matter of reliable spark.  I also wonder if it is a detonation precaution for the timing advance and increased boost when tuned?

Those don't look too bad to me.  What did you finally gap the new ones at?  Did you use the SP534?
