Hey all so while I was looking for a cai. I came accross one for.199 at autoplicity.com however it does not show compatible for.the 2010 sho.but for the 2011 and 2012 but the one.for the 2010 is 40 dollars more I don't think there is a difference between model years but want some feedback befor. I buy. Here's the link K&N 69-3531TS 69 Series Typhoon Air Intakes - Autoplicity.com excuse the typos I'm using my phone

I'm not sure about the 2010 but this issue has come up before.  For some reason, K&N does not show the 2010.  The number you call out is the one I have on my 2012.  Maybe you could call them and solve the mystery.

The 2011 and up should work for your 2010. Personally, I decided to skip the increased IAT's that everyone seems to get with any aftermarket intake and drop in a K&N filter in the stock box and put that extra $200 towards other mods. It does look good though. Just my opinion. Not knocking ya.

I agree with your logic Brad.  I was a big supporter of the stock air box with panel.  I still am.  I bought my Typhoon for looks and when I came into an extra $100, I only paid $100 out of pocket. I still have the stock set up if I need it for the track.

REDSHOCGO

so are you saying that the stock air box is actually better than the intake? As it increases the air temperature? I am not looking to lose power over a modification if the stocker is better than I might as well save my money.

I think that it is generally a wash.  The Typhoon's (or Air Raid for that matter) higher flow is negated by possibly warmer air intake temperatures, taking some air from under the hood. There are a lot of variables such as how long you sit standing still and how fast either one cools off once you are moving.  Materials and smooth air flow also factor in.  That's why I think the performance of either method is too close to call.  There has been a documented report of a loss of .2 in the 1/4 with the Typhoon which is really a short ram as opposed to a true CAI, but that is only under a certain set of circumstances.

Either way you go, I would recommend trimming off the hood molding in front of the air scoop to get more cold air. (Maybe wait until Spring at this point.)  Like so:

Yes!  I must give BPD the credit for turning me on to it too!

There's gonna be a new option before long... based on the Hennessey dual intake design... coming soon...more air and 1 per turbo drawing air from outside the engine compartment.  I just need to find a weekend to leave the car at Black Market Racing..... 4DR's idea, and one I like.  We hope to use the dyno there to show what difference it makes and have a jig made so it can be mass fabricated.. It won't be anywhere close to the $2300 Hennessey wants for theirs.

Give us 4-6 weeks to have the prototype and the stock vs. this prototype dynos (same day, same machine, same weather, same dyne, same car)

Sounds interesting I may he pulling the string to early but any idea on approx. Pricing if all goes well? I might as well just hold out then....it's to cold anyways right now -30 wind chill is not ideal for installing anything even in a garage

Al little are to say... goal is something below $700..... but with a dyne showing 20-25 WHP improvement which will make that cheap compared to downpipes... and much less labor.

Update so I e-mailed k and n about the fit of the 2011 on a 2010 and this was their response

Hello I have a 2010 sho and am wondering if the Part No. 69-3531TS will fit it as it only shows 2011 and up. Thank you in advance

Hi Anthony,

Thank you for your interest in K&N products.  K&N designs each intake system we manufacture to be a simple, bolt-on performance upgrade.  When developing a new system, we rely heavily on local vehicles owned by K&N customers willing to lend us their vehicle for research and development.  We have not yet had the opportunity to test fit a kit for your application to determine if an intake will fit.

Further, I do not have any information regarding if/when a K&N intake system will become available for your vehicle.  If you'd like to be notified if/when products for your vehicle are released, please visit our Product Request page at http://www.knfilters.com/register/products_needed.aspx ; and take a minute to fill out the form.  You will be notified via e-mail when a product is released.
