Quote from: mjhpadi on January 06, 2014, 12:28:49 PMAlso painting the calipers does look nice but in my experience eventually the paint either discolors or begins to peel so it has to be redone to keep it looking nice...and decals will eventually peel/curl because of age/heat.

1. Powdercoated aluminum has a resistance up to 500 degrees. Ceramic enamel is good up to 900.
2. Decals are applied after the 3 coats of color, and then are coated again with 3 more coats. Each coat being able to with handle 900 degrees.

Paint chipping has to do with prep work. Prep is everything when dealing with paint.

QuoteVHT(R) Brake, Caliper. Drum & Rotor Coatings have been specifically designed for the custom detailing of brake components. It is heat resistant to 900 Deg. F (482 Deg. C) and will not chip, crack, fade or rust even under extremes of operation or road and weather conditions.

There's a reason no production car, at least high end car, comes installed with caliper covers.

I was just out on the MGP site and they do not list caliper covers for the 2013 SHO. I did a complete site search and came up with, "no listing". They do list all other models of the 2013 Taurus.  If you are planning on making an order, you may want to call first.

Nobody has mentioned the fake Allen screw heads.  Not gonna happen here.

If you like your caliper covers, you like them, enough said. But just don't try to pitch that these covers dissipate heat and provide a performance edge.

I don't know where you got the idea that I ever said that....you are way off base thinking I ever said they provide any kind of performance edge, I said that MGP claims they dissipate heat, but also stated that I can't prove or disprove that! :banghead:

Understand, and honestly, I wasn't wild about those either, but in all the time mine have been on, I haven't had one person comment about the fake allen bolt heads. Again, I'm not trying to convince or discourage, just seems that no one either sees them or notices them, but it could be that they are mostly covered my the wheels....

I have no doubt that MGP makes fine quality caliper covers and a lot of guys like having them.  I just like my stock calipers fine and have no need to change the look.  Besides, I want my snazzy wheels to catch the eye!   ;D
