Up until maybe 10 years ago I swore against most forgeign cars. Most of them did not meet my styling or performance standards. Not that a lot of the domestics did, but I was more loyal to USA. Especially since my mother worked for GM.
Every GM car that I have ever owned, always impeccable performance for its time. And reliably. I know some of the nay sayers and problems the cars had, but I never experienced them on any of mine. Even my 1982 Z-28. Car was notorious for problems. But I put 160k miles on mine without ANY issues. Except I had to adjust transmission cable shift. The 200c transmission and its glory.
If I were buying a pure performance car would look for bang for the buck! The ZR1, Viper and IF Ford would make the GT-40 again those would be my choices. But all around, the SHO is hard to beat. As I said, in a couple years, I will seriously consider that CTS. A 4 door car that can put it down and take on and out the likes of comparable BMW, mercers, Lexus and Infiniti!
So now returning to the NO FOREIGN CARS thing, I will not buy another foreign car unless it is a '70-'73 Datsun 240Z. :0
Or a Jaguar XJS!
