Good point, I have the same situation with sound, although only my wife... even though she's gotten used to the jackrabbit starts that I love
. There is the question of adequate back pressure for safe engine function and 4DR's method seems to address this using manifold pressure/boost related activation.
The best of both worlds might be an automatic that could be electrically activated/disabled for those "quiet cruising" situations. Put the switch in with the automatic parking switch to hide it away.
I am not sure if there really is any issue with removing backpressure from the exhaust system with the cutouts as this is not a an N/A application. You can find conflicting information on this subject and it has even been discussed here on this forum, but I am of the mind set that you want the least restrictive exhaust possible on a turbo engine to allow for faster spooling.

I recommend the SPT boost activated over the electric exhaust cutouts..pricey but worth it.
