I gotta be real for a minute. I love my Fords but they are falling WAY behind in interior. Class example, I was at the Motor Trend car show here in Vegas over TG weekend, and sat in almost every single brand of vehicle, almost every single model besides the econoboxes. Even got to race the simulator at Ford's booth. Anyway, Dodge/Ram had the best fit and finish in their cars for the money. Hyundai (especially the Equus, OMG that car) had stellar interiors, and of course the lux brands all have things figured out. Chevy (wow that new Vette btw) interiors are getting better and better, especially the new trucks. But one of the last booths was Ford. I immediately hopped in a Raptor first. It was incredibly disappointing. Then of course I hopped in the Taurus, and the feeling stayed. The problems? Hard plastics where you really would prefer something more soft, and tactile details. Panel gaps. Inconsistencies in trim. Surprise sharp edges and seams. All of this takes away from the interior's panache.
The SS wasn't there, but all of Chevy's upper range cars and trucks had great interiors. I think what may be perceived as gaudy may be more attractive in person. Sometimes a camera can accentuate something our eyes may just view as appropriate.
Also, there is NO comparison to the fun factor of a fully RWD sports car. Sure, gotta turn the nannies off, but once you do, Wooo HOOO!
