Well, had an interesting shift last night. Or should I say, neighboring agency did.

Right smack dab in the middle of trying to enjoy our Thanksgiving feast last night at the station amongst co-workers, neighboring agency had an Officer involved shooting at their Kohl's store.

Three ding-a-lings total. 52, 51, and 28 years old. Each shoplifting a fair amount of clothing.

While 2 dumb dumbs were attempting to make their escape, the 3rd dumb dumb acting as the get-away driver, thought it best to help his pals out by 1st attempting to run the initial pursuing officer over, then drag him along the ground as the Officer attempted to take at least one (of the three) goofs into custody.

Gotta love Black Friday shopping!

I did end up responding over to the crime scene, as one of the CSI/Evid Tech guys for my agency, apparently the Major Crime Scenes Task Force needed addt'l supplies, so I got to see everything 1st hand.

The responding Fire Dept did end up taking the injured Officer, and the injured Suspect to the Hospital in our town. Both are injured, but nothing too terribly serious.

Meanwhile, we had to help out their agency with in-progress, priority calls, one of which involved a barricaded subject with a gun call at one of their hotels which stemmed from a Domestic Disturbance.

I swear, was it a full moon last night I ask?

Dumb Dumbs is right.  My youngest daughter is a Chandler AZ firefighter and seriously dating a Denver PD officer (ecoboost explorer here!). They tell similar stories every time we're together. I was a deputy coroner in northern AZ for a while... I am amazed at what people will do and even more so that they think there is any real hope they won't get caught with today's investigative techniques, much less them being on film! It's why AZ DPS unsnap their holsters at routine traffic stops!

I'm glad the good guys weren't injured seriously.... and glad that they got the idiots...

...assault & attempted murder for a pair of socks?   Clean up our gene pool!   

If this kind of people can even read maybe the story will discourage them.

LOL, fun and games ..... I remember it well while on the fire service,
including the untimely calls where you have to leave your nicely cooked dinner hot on the table.

Seriously messed up, but not unusual today sadly.  I think these folks base their success %ages on other people's fears of getting hurt if in the way.  Primal and basic.

Hope the officer recovers quickly.

Now, that being said, if you ever pull over a 2014 black SHO with Wisconsin plate 5&* P*%, don't forget I probably just got done loading my new tune from LMS so give Brandon the ticket ;-)

Somehow I suspect that Brandon will protest the issuance of any such citation to him, as a result of his company's outstanding product offerings, including their tunes.

My opinion is over the top reaction... so I remain silent...

As a former retail store owner... shoplifting is serious... Once had a guy in a wheelchair come in with a hidden compartment underneath and stole about $10,000. in Hummel Figurines ( back when they were hot selling). 

First, glad to hear the officer was not seriously hurt...but you're right about full moon, it was always a really strange night at the prison, but then again (as a friend says) the full moon is the night all the "Lunertics" come out!

There are many instances these days where I believe excessive force is used. One doesn't have to look far to find examples. I long for the days when cops were "Peace Officers" instead of "Law Enforcement"

I'm also glad all of our SHOfficers on EBOF had a safe night.

These folks that participate in the Black Friday melees deserve to be maced, tazed, beaten and jailed...not necessarily in that order. If they want to act like wild animals, they deserve to be treated as such. These folks have ruined Black Friday for many and this behavior cannot continue to be tolerated.

I shudder to think how these folks will behave if the food supply is ever interrupted. Instead of Wal-mart, these folks will be at your front door.

Yeah, I think we all long for those days, but I also long for the day they could be "Peace Officers" in the days before: Arian Brotherhood, Bloods, Crips, Latin Kings, and drive-by shootings.  It's a different day and a different attitude on the streets, so it's a lot tougher to be be on the streets on in the correctional system then years ago. Not that it was easy then....
