Just Installed Tune: 91 Octane Livernois on 2013 SHO

Over lunch I went out to the car and installed the 91 octane tune on my 2013. Only got to drive quickly out for lunch and already can tell that I like what I am feeling. Gas pedal response is far more immediate and the shifts are definitely crisper. Unfortunately it is raining very hard today, so the high speed highway runs will have to wait. More comments to come.

Sounds like a favorable initial response.  Hope it dries up for you soon!

Thanks for posting this.  :thumb:  I'm gonna be very interested in your experience... I'm looking at a tune, and stuck with 91 octane.

I ordered my LMS tuner yesterday. Anxious for it. I opted not to go the mycal route. So My question is I want to be able to monitor and possibly record vehicle parameters with iPad. Including performance.

So which obd 2 scanner is most using for this?
Is wifi or Bluetooth scanner more gooderer?
Which scanner is bi? iPhone or android systems?
Which offers most flexibility?

Android with torque pro app and obd2 to bluetooth is your best solution.

Apple product needed obd2 to wifi last I know. I tried it and it was lagging like 2 seconds lag. Also dash command app cost +30$. Torque Pro -5$.

There have been some reports of tune problems.

http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=126684

Maybe SHOdded could chime in with his read on it.  He was in the linked thread on another forum.

The thread thread seems to be about hesitation under load in cold weather at about 4500 rpm.

Be warned, this is purely speculation on my part.  So far there are whispers of fueling problems (and Livernois is reportedly looking into this).  Whether the stock system is literally out of capacity, or whether the ECU is throttling the system (cutting the throttle/turning off injectors, etc.) to stay within safe boundaries (prevent detonation, safeguard the transmission) has not been publicly/firmly established with repeatable logging.  EBB uses a Boost-A-Pump on his Flex.  4DR Mike set up an aux fueling system to increase capacity for the HP (700+ AWHP) he was trying to achieve.

Until the system flow capacity is proven to be a problem, I'd look at the tune tables to make sure that all the i's are dotted and t's crossed for the conditions the vehicle is expected to encounter.  This is a problem you run into in computer programming all the time, you have to handle all cases, however you choose to do it.  Maybe in this case the full throttle scenario has not been fully tested before implementation.

 :thankyou:

Thanks for the input SHOdded.

When I read it I thought of the FRP discussions. It's true that without a dyno custom tune, and maybe even with, the software is designed only to meet the average situation and even with custom dyno tuning the ECU may not be able to appropriately adjust for situations not involved in the tune.

Now if 4DR, EBB or others who have modified their fuel system could comment with their objective and subjective experiences with any symptoms like this...

I spoke with Anthony last week and he told me they had been dyno testing for a few days. They were currently trying out the boost a pump to solve the issue. He did not have any usable info on when a solution might be found "which is expected" sorting this stuff out takes time, trial and error.
It most certainly is a drop in FRP that is the issue though, he has told me this several times now.

I would rather have them back the tune off a bit than have to add a booster. Couldn't make THAT much difference. Sorry you guys are having a problem.  Glad I have my 12.  No trouble yet with the 4+.  I'm ready to back off to the 4 if the cold weather makes it act up.

Why would they be out of fuel on 2013 when they have more fuel available than 2010-12?

Why wasn't that caught in the development process?

Any 2013 Torrie tunes having the issue?

They have a revised tune for the SHO that is backed off a bit but some are still getting some slight stutter here and there.
Backing it off is certainly something they can do but then you have a winter tune and summer tune, not a big deal just something else to consider.
Personally i have no interest in backing off on power, i want MORE power. So i'm all about the boost a pump fix along with meth and other mods as they are developed.
