These are the rides of two guys that I meet often at the track (one of them is actually a tuner and the other one his client).

A 2011 5.0 auto can be purchased for about 25K$ cdn (probably closer to 20K$ in the States). For about 3K$, you can get in the low 11's and for 10K$, you can get it in the 9's! CAI, stall converter and drag radials for low 11's and add a blower and you are in the 9's...

Not too expensive and difficult to get and if you look in the videos, it is amazing how stable the cars are to be that fast...

If I was just going for track glory, I would pass on the blower and do a nice Nitrous setup for around $1,500. Probably a 150 to 200 shot would get you in the 9 second range.

Interesting vids, Steve!  What did you think of the launching for each mod level?  It looked like the S/C Mustang was a bit slow off the line, but it could be a driver tactic?  Do you know how long the owners have had the mods on there (reliability)?

You see? That's what I meant by smooth and stable cars. The S/C Mustang launched its 60' in 1.47 sec, the other in 1.55 sec. I guess all is relative.
I think they are quite reliable. They both use these cars as daily drivers for 7 months a year. They are reasonable in the streets, but practicaly track them most of the weekends it doesn't rain...

I am not very good with mechanic and I still have 98% to learn.
For me, the easiest a car is to mod, and the cheapest, I love it. That's why I thought I'd share.
For many cars, to make them run in the 9's, we are talking about 50-100k$ or more in investment.
I am not a fan of nitrous setups, so to see a normal car with basically just a tune and a stall running flat 11 is quite impressive... Even if it's old stuff! Lol

I was not trying to face palm your post.  . Mustangs/camaros/chevelles/novas/falcons etc etc have always since the late 60's been a great value for making fast drag cars.  The new coyote 5.0 is pretty special.  It makes most of its power in the mid to upper rpm band which helps it hook well and go.  There are 1000's of youtubes on the 2011 on up mustang running fast times.  The way I took your post was you had discovered something new or unknown.  Lol.  Thats all...

But, bottom line is those cars on the street at a stop light on street tires will not run as good without slicks.  Your car will run pretty much the same at the track as on the street via awd.  I would put my money on you in a stop light to stop light race against any of those cars in ur videos running street radial tires (non drag or cheater).  Just my two cents.
