Modified Engine Cover for LMS HPFP

I modified my SHO engine cover so I could put it back onto the motor without rubbing against the Firestorm HPFP awhile back. Being as the heat is pretty severe in that location I decided to hold off posting to make sure there were no issues such a warping of the engine cover...

Happy to say with over 1,000 miles of driving in various conditions such as traffic in 100F temps, spirited driving, a couple 2hr plus trips the engine cover is as clean and unmarred as before the modification. I attached pictures to the post but essentially I covered the HPFP in chalk, put the engine cover back on, pulled it off to examine where the pump was touching, took a razor to the not-quite-foam material to cut out around the outlines, used reflective HVAC tape to finish it.

I know there has been quite a few people interested to know if the HPFP would play nice with the engine cover, and thus far I am pretty confident that it does with a simple adjustment.

Hope this helps answer some questions!!!

Fan-freak'n-tastic news!

Considering my cover is custom CF, and also incorporates LED lighting underneath its' perimeter, I am one of those "interested persons" wondering if it played nice (with the upgraded, modified HPFP from LMS)......

I am ready to order mine within the next week.

Thanks for posting there SBS / BJ. :thumb:

I would have put a shaker hood on the appearance cover LOL, but this looks perfect!
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

See, now your appealing the my inner child.... if I could put a root style blower on it peaking out of the hood I would be just flat out stoked....

Shakerhood would be cool... but then I would feel like all those mopars that end up in my review mirror....

Any chance of doing some science on temperature of the reflective tape vs. the normal engine cover material after a nice hot drive? I'm curious if the reflective tape will work like the reflective insulation and keep heat off the cover but more concentrated around the pump? IIRC when I had my SHO the cover would get decently hot to touch, but not hot enough to deform, as it seemed to absorb some of the heat rather than keeping it around components.
2015 Tuxedo Black SHO PP -(SAE corrected): 369.4/451.4 - Gone to the automotive graveyard but not forgotten

2016 F150 FX4 Sport - 3.5L V6 Ecoboost - Stock for now

2003 Redfire V6 Mustang - Building to be an 11 second car

I don't have a way to measure the temps on the cover...and now that it's already modified, I can't take a baseline.

Dunno...
