Hello all. Good forum here with a ton of info, its becoming one of the first forums i check almost daily for new threads.

I come from the land of huffing diesel thrown from gigantic turbos. Lol
I recently traded in a 06 6.0 (around 440 whp, 800+ wtq) for a new to me 15 SHO/pp with 27k miles, black on black (none more black lol) I just couldnt go NA after having two big PSD trucks.

Car is bone stock so far and its fn awesome. Feels like it could almost out run my old 6.0 and it doesnt dance all over the road like the truck did. Plus the comfort factor and i have a new favorite ride.

So far i have had it back to the stealer for pad and rotor replacement and they said it also needs a timing cover re-seal and front crank seal replacement due to small oil leaks. I cant find anything here yet about these seals going bad, is it normal on these cars?
Also she was pretty low on coolant, dealer found no leaks but pressure checked the system anyways.

Out of many recomendations from here it is in the shop now for new plugs, ptu oil change and oil change.

Looking forward to leaning a lot more from here as this is the first turbo gasser ive ever had and my first gasser in over 10 years.

Welcome to EBPF, and congrats on the new ride!

Those leaks are definitely not common, i would be more concerned with the low coolant.  Due to the internal timing chain driven water pump, that is.  Hopefully it was prev owner neglect rather than any parts failure, but keep an eye out.  A Blackstone analysis of the engine oil would let you know if there is cause for concern.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Welcome to EB crazy train.

I haven't seen, nor heard much chatter about the seals the stealership's replacing for you.

But certainly couldn't hurt if they're doing the work.

A strict, semi-aggressive maintenance schedule will yield long term enjoyable experiences on this platform, so good to see you tending to the other matters as well.

Enjoy your power filled techno sled!

The paperwork that came with the car shows good maintinance history but who really knows. The dealer got the car at auction (figured that out after purchase) which concerns me a bit. Who sends less than 30k mile car to auction? But that ship has sailed. Ive dealt with many water pumps but never dealt with a timing chain driven water pump, sounds like a pita. The coolant wasnt super low, just about an inch below the cold line on the bottle but obviously that coolant went somewhere. Hopefully not out of the exaust at some point.
I do plan on sending a sample to Blackstone at the next oil change. Besides the obvious i also want to see how the Royal Purple is after 5k miles.

Thanks man!

Was it a lease return?  Even if it wasnt, it is common practice for dealers to send used cars to auction to get them off their inventory.  So, nothing to worry about.

I do recommend the HPS version over the SAE version, as the HPS version has Synerlec tech, which does help quite a bit in wear reduction.

I was almost certain it was a lease return. At my local grocery store i would always see a nice black on black SHO (only SHO ive seen up here in 9 years) then suddenly it seemed to be replaced with a new exploder sport. Then the SHO i bought showed up at the local dealer. Where the exploder came from.  So 2+2=4 in my head on that. Lol
What i cant figure is if it is the same SHO then why did the local dealer buy it at auction?

If i happen to see the owner of the sploder in the parking lot im going to ask a ton of strange questions. Haha

Ive always used nothing less than mobil 1 in all my vehicles and toys. I just cant find reasoning in cheaping out on fluids.

Thanks man!

I am no stranger to squared away maintinance after owning a cpl power stokes. Haha. Friggen $120 of filters and fluids every 6k miles just to start.

Your right on the techno sled thing. This car has way more crap inside than i need. And way more sensors and computer junk than any motor needs, lol.  Im not a huge fan of the touch screen as it seems very fragile and im not the fragile type. Lol but i rly like the auto easy out seat feature. I aint the smallest dude around. Haha

Thanks

Did you just order one for an Ipad and trim it to size?
Edit= i found the applications page but nothing for 15+ taurus. Are the 10-14 screens a different size?

Also does the cover get all marked up with fingerprints as bad as the touch screen does? All the finger prints are very annoying, to the point i keep a micro cloth in the car and wipe the screen every time i park.

They had a "Day Vue" one that matched the size of our screens.

I ended up interacting with an associate from that vendor to assist me, and no, no discernable fingerprints, and the screen is much easier to see now. More vibrant. Colors are richer, etc.

Which for my purpose was/is a great thing, as I can watch video(s) while the car is in motion/drive.

Give them a call, or shoot 'em an email. You'll be glad you did.

Well i just picked her up from the mech and he didnt change the ptu oil because its leaking from the rear output and that will be a warranty issue. He said the level was fine so i will be good untill it gets back to the stealer, again.

Also the old plugs with 28k ish miles on them looked OK but not OK enough for only 28k miles. Lol.

Very rare to leak from that seal.  Hmmm.  Good you have warranty, lol.  This car needs some lookin out!

So now it has 3 odd leaks :(
Im starting to regret the purchase. If it wasnt such a blast to drive id be pissed alrdy.

Yeah im glad for the warranty, and for a trusty mech. I cant fit under half of this thing even on ramps. Lol.
I have a feeling the dealer is going to get very annoyed with warranty claims, but they sold me the car in its current condition so not my problem. Besides inconvenience of dropping it off and running a loaner.
