I figured I'd introduce myself.  ;D
I own a 2011 Taurus SEL, and plan on getting a 2013 SHO within the next 2-3 months; thought I'd join to see what I can learn about them before I pick one out.

SHOdded

Welcome to EBPF, J, certainly feel free to look around, what all are you looking to get out of SHOwnership?  Good luck in your search for the "perfect" SHO, may have to travel a bit to get it, as some have done.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Thanks SHOdded! I really like the Taurus I have now, but after test driving a SHO I regret not getting one sooner..

I want to keep the smooth ride I have right now, but with some more power, torque and some extra sophistication with all the options that are available!

Also, if I'm not replying the correct way, certainly tell me because this is the first forum I've ever been apart of.

ZSHO, thanks for the welcome! Those numbers you sent will be pretty helpful.

Definiately PP, when I get it I'd like to start with a tune (I have no idea who I plan on going with). I do have a few ideas, likke LMS or Unleashed, but that's why I joined this group right?? Lol after that is like to get a nice sounding exhaust for it.

As far as color, either white, which is what I have now, black, or the darker green that ford has put out. I also want the multi-contour seats, since I really liked them in the one I got to test drive.

Irondoor19 thanks for the offer but as I have a 2011 right now, I want to move up to something with a few more features.

Good luck with selling it though!

It's not?  Well, my dreams just went ... dry.  Thanks a lot.

J, if you do happen to consider the 2010 that irondoor is selling, I am sure you will be pleased with it.  If you do happen to land a Green Gem Metallic SHO though, I will be really jelly LOL.

Welcome!!  Both of those tuners are top notch with great reputations.  I personally prefer our inhouse mad scientist AJPTurbo, his tunes and his customer service are awesome.

Yeah the massaging seats are nice.  Do you know how to tell visually some of the differences in options without pulling vin or build codes?  There are visual ways you can tell.
Based on my research form Feb when I bought my car I will recommend the '13 model year specifically.  The reason being is that  for PP cars it is the year that gives you the most possible options possible.  In '14 they changed the base options package and moved a few things over to the "driver's assist package" which is not available if you have a PP.  So you lose a few things.  The only option you can not have on a '13 PP car is the adaptive cruise, all other options were at least available from the factory.

Options packages:

  • 400A - Base show package on all SHO
  • 402A - (Primary full options package on '13+ cars) Check back of console for rear heated seat controls, also check NAV hone screen screen HVAC section for heated wheel icon.
  • PP Package - Look for the Alcantra wheel is easiest visual cue.
  • Multicontour Seats - Look at the seat controls, should look like the ones pictured on a '13
Pictures attached are of my car.  I had sales woman take specific pictures for me before I drove a hour south to look at it.

Yeah thus information will help me out quite a bit. I was unaware of what packages were unavailable with the PP. Kindas stinks it won't come with Adaptive Cruise, but I'll assume it's well worth it.

What do you all think about a SHO with PP, vs one without it?

Ohhhh another PP visual cue (I think), only the PP will have a traction control button next to the rear sunshade button under the panel just in front of the shifter.

That is one big difference between PP and non PP aside from the gearing. (Brakes can easily be upgraded as can tires so not a big factor in differences)  The PP will allow you to turn off the traction control nannies, the non PP you cannot.  I like to be able to remove nannies, so to me it was a no brainer, specially if you plan to take car to track at all.

Note the far left button is parking assist, that is another visual cue to having the 402A full options package

Yeah I would plan on taking it to the track, but not a whole lot. I still think it would be beneficial for more entertaining acceleration.
