For those that have raced in 90 degree weather and raced again in much colder weather... say 50's or 60's... how much of a time difference did you see with the denser colder air?

TIA..

There are SO MANY other variables that still should be considered "in play" that will affect outcome and/or final results.

I don't need to list them. Most of you are aware of those influencing factors.

I will say in my experiences alone, that the cooler the weather, the track being less warm, has a dramatic effect on traction.

That can be addressed somewhat with additional VHT, but (lack of) traction becomes problematic.

Not to mention cooler weather combined with AWD makes it even more challenging to warm up them shoes.

The EB platform is an oddity. Although if anything, they've proven to be consistemt performers turning in solid #'s even after repeated runs.

My guess is you were/are hoping for better #'s, I just don't have the answers. I sometimes am left scratching my head too.

Just remember, this platform is still effectively handing it to so many others out there.

In the end, it's all in good fun.

I understand and agree with everything you said. I was more generalizing as in say you BPD May run 11.7-11.8 in warm weather and say 11.5 11.6 in colder fall months. Guessing at those times but you get the idea.

Preventing heatsoak still be one of the best controllable mods you can make, IMHO.  Removal of the appearance cover and firewall "weatherstripping" being the easiest and no-cost options.  Then there is the pop the hood open at the end of a run till you are almost ready to run again, and wiring in the fans to run on command.  Hood vents.  Further up the scale is rigging a cooling line from the A/C system to the intake or post-turbo piping.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Running the fans on a switch would be money... is there a write up on that?

And to BPDs point... I get some of my best times hot lapping... after a run everything is cooler for a short while with the exception of the trans temps... I will hot lap as long my trans temps are 200 or lower... once it bumps 205 I let her rest.

My MKS was tune only so it was not putting out enough power to have traction issues.  I found that each 1000 feet of DA cost me about a tenth.   On the hottest most humid day I ever ran, I could only manage 13.0.  On the coolest and driest day, I ran 12.68.  This was at the same track with the same tune but vastly different air.

As a guy with an MKS just now looking into getting a tune, this makes me super happy.  Running bottom 13s to high 12s in a comfy daily driver is what I'm shooting for.  I'm from Key West originally so I hate cold weather... It's good to know there is at least some benefit to it, lol.
2014 Lincoln MKS - Sold... And I still miss it sometimes

High 12s are very achievable with a tune-only MKS.  The only occasions when I was out of the 12s was the first time I ever ran it and was just feeling it out and the time it was in the upper 90s and super high humidity.

Wow.. that's a lot of ET taken off for better air...

So with the temps pushing close to 90 at the track and I am still putting down 12.3 then this tune probably has very low 12's in it... 12.0x if I can get traction...most likely 12.1's at least....

Should find out towards the end of October ;-)

Thanks for the input!!!

I do not know for sure but I suspect meth is somewhat helpful in combatting heat?

Yes and no. It does help lower IATs significantly but if the outside air is still thin due to high ambients I am certain that still impacts..

Example being if my IATs start at 145F from the line then I am usually at around 106ish by the time I cross over the finish line...

The meth would certainly offset the higher DA but not sure by how much...I am gonna find out!

I am happy with anything 12.5 and faster. That will clean up 95% of the street cars.
