Hey guys, just got my first SHO last week and I noticed that during acceleration I can hear a noticable clicking/ticking noise that stops as soon as I get to cruising speed (regardless of what speed that is). My buddy told me that the injectors on these ecoboost motors are known for being rather loud but wanted to verify with you guys if that was correct or not. Any insight into this would be great! Thanks

Not normal... at idle if you are listening sure, they are noisy motors. Shouldn't hear them when you are accelerating.

Check strut mounts, hubs & bearings.  Most common source of clicking sounds.  What year SHO btw?  2013 by any chance?
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I also started noticing the same thing feels it's traction control finding traction or abs only sometimes on hard throttle when everything aligns sometimes hard throttle I get slower acceleration then when I get the good hard acceleration sometimes it will do the noise

Originally thought it was from the rear driver but now more hear it driver front

What might have started it was turning and hit the throttle to hard making traction control turn on something might be compramissed now?

There was a halfshaft recall for 2013, I assume it has been applied (meaning parts replaced, not just inspected)

Worth checking with the dealer to see exactly what was done about it, should be a free check 2 u.

Welcome Maverick and -X2 above and would not rule out being your wheel hubs, thrust washers especially it being a 13 Performance package.
Did you check for any codes set?  Z

Can you narrow it down to a specific side or area?  I'd check the cv boots for tears.  Those will make an audible click.

And to add to ZSHO's response, check out this video.  He could be on with the thrust washer TSB.

Thanks for the replies guys, the noise sounds like it's coming from directly in front of me while I'm driving and it only does it under acceleration.

Haven't got to check for any codes but if there is, they're not illuminating the CEL. Reading the description does sound like it fits the bill with the clicking on accel. Will probably take it to my local Ford dealer Friday morning, think I'm good until then?

Should be.  Just avoid WOT where hop can happen.

So just for the sake of looking for a pattern, I paid closer attention to what circumstances it would make this noise. I swear it sounds like a lifter tick but would kinda need lifters to be the culprit.  On the last trip I took just driving to get food on my lunch break, under light/mild acceleration, the noise would start at around 2100/2200rpm and then progressively get louder up to 2500rpm when it would shift and rpm would drop back to 2000 and the noise would go away and the repeat as the rpm climbed again.  In an open parking lot I attempted to listen for out of the ordinary noises while turning full lock left and right and noticed that there seemed to be more noise while turning full right but that may just be because the driver side tire is sticking out allowing more noise to be projected but I'm not sure. Thoughts?

That's not a tick.  That's a knock.  And on a 16 too?  Is it in the shop already?
