i have a 2013 SHO non pp took it to the track last night and ran a 13.24 at 105 mph (best time)(70 degrees out side temp) my mods are colder gapped ngk pluggs, 170 tstat , drop in k&n, 93 oct tune from torrie, 3 bar. i was impressed but "not impressed" i was thinking with all this done i would at least break into the 12s range. what else do you think i need to do, i contacted torrie and he said i need to data log and submit. i guess ill give that a try but i was still thinking i should be in the 12's. and thoughts guys?

StealBlueSho

Hmmmm... was there any revisions to the base tune? And what was your 60ft?

FoMoCoSHO

You are on a conservative base tune and you need to go through the logging process.

Responsible tuners do not throw tons of initial power at vehicles that they can't verify the mechanical running conditions of.

Torrie will have you in the 12s in no time.

Post up a pic of your timeslip if you can. My first tune from torrie ran about same mph. First revision got me in 12s.

Uleashed 93 3bar. Stock everything else. Best run 12.88

Now AJP 3bar still all stock otherwise. Times to come

What RPM did you launch at? What track? DA? What tires? What revision is the tune?

Your ET is probably related to weather and not the tune, you'll soon learn that DA can kill your ET. I live in AZ and it is death here, we never have good air.

What the others said, you need to datalog and get it dialed it. This is what bothers me about some of the tuners here, they charge $x for the base tune and the $x to datalog. I think that's just crazy, no matter how good they claim it to be, I'm from a world where $x gets you your tune and unless you are willing to datalog you know it's gonna suck, pretty much just enough done to turn off the CELs.

Post up a pic of your timeslip if you can. My first tune from torrie ran about same mph. First revision got me in 12s.

You need to datalog to know more.

My 1/4 mile matches yours EXACTLY.  13.09,  1st run best run of night.   for me and my car the issue is the standard pump gas and heat of the track and heat of the IAT2 force the car to reduce spark.  I am willing to bet you have the SAME spark loss as i did.

SPARK IS LIFE.

Its all about the launch and the IAT2 temps and the spark strategy in the ECU.   I would data log 5+ runs and post them.

Or get a race tune and grab some much higher octane gas.   the race tune will assume a SET higher octane fuel and have higher spark limits mapped out.  So when it gets hot and starts pulling spark (and it will no matter what without meth) the higher octane spark penalty will help by having higher value spark limits when HOT.

the less time you spend cooling the motor, the hotter the IAT2 and block, the less spark you will have. less spark.. less torque.

Edit case in point::  my best 1/4 mile is 13.09 with a DA or about 40 feet and a IAT2 of about 110..  same mods as you.  *BUT* if i drive to my testing spot, and my IAT2 is 80f or less i can pull and datalogged 12.6 second runs to 105mph.   In a cold state, have left 4 dead NUMEROUS modded 335i's, stock new 5.0 mustangs, hopped up bro-dozers and STI's.

FYI .. my 13.09 drag run was on revision-11 and now I'm on revision-17,  so revisions will help if you are not where the tuner would call you 'finalized' at.

What tuner charges money for the datalog? I know they charge $xyz dollars for the tune but from what I understand, the revisions are free.

don't want to call anyone out, but I've seen a few that have "stages" of tunes and their lower stage tunes appear to not allow for datalogging, and they charge to even review a datalog if you have a problem it seems, and then to datalog for a performance revision it's an extra $100.
