Check for chaffed wires on the engine block. If I recall, a common area is several wires on the top right side. There is a thread here somewhere...
Otherwise, go by Koons Ford in Sterling and ask to see Allen in service. He used to have a SHO, then a Explorer Sport. He's a good guy. You should also place a call to Ford about the issue so that it is documented. That carries some weight at the dealer when they read the notes.
Your right, they don't get many SHO's in service, especially the smaller dealers.
(BTW, Koons fixed my issues back in 2011 when Ted Britt wouldn't. I even talked to Mr.Britt myself. Ford later apologized, said they had heard the same complaints before, and recommended I visit Koons. They applied some TSB's and been fine ever since.)
