22 years between SHOs

Greetings!  I have a bit of history with the SHO.  My first new car was a 1993 SHO, dark blue with the black interior and a 5-speed.  I put a Hypertech chip in it and a K&N filter, ran a best of 14.9 in the quarter.  I freaking loved that car, it was comfortable, fast, and different from all the cookie-cutter 5.0 Fox body Mustangs that were everywhere.  Unfortunately, it was a big-time lemon with endless electrical issues.  I finally got fed up with it and traded it on a Ranger in late 1994.

In the 22 years since, I've had a succession of Mustangs, BMWs, an RX-7, Porsche 944, Miata, various pickups, you name it.  But yesterday I came back to where it all started:

It's a 2014 Tuxedo Black with PP, multi-contour seats, and nav.  No moonroof.  Picked it up at a dealership in Grand Rapids, MI and drove it home to Brighton through a bunch of snow squalls, and it did great.  My most recent ride was a 2011 Mustang GT with Steeda springs and aftermarket exhaust, and while it was an absolute hoot to drive, I'm not a young man anymore, and the SHO's combination of space, comfort, and performance is much more my style these days.

Plans for now are just to drive it, add a few things like a Proclip phone mount and Husky floor liners.  Down the road I may do a light tint on the windows, and since I don't live far from Livernois, I may well be giving them a call, too.  I'm also going to change all the fluids to good quality synthetics as soon as I can dig my way back to my garage in all the snow we  have.  Also considering splash guards and maybe an oil catch can.

This is not my first Ecoboost 3.5 vehicle, by the way.  I previously had a 2011 F-150 and my wife is currently driving our 2015 Expedition EL.  You can say that I'm a fan of this engine.

Digging the color and moonroof delete option. I had to buy mine new to find one in the right combination of options.

The picture didnt work for me, but may be my connection at work.

I definitely recommend a tune, as it wakes the car up so much.

Welcome!  I just joined this week.  I bought a 2016 SHO w/ PP just 11 weeks ago tomorrow!  I'm loving it.

There is a ton of helpful information and people on this forum.  There are also some of the sweetest SHO's I've ever seen!

I literally, just today, put in order for my SX4 and drop in filter (for now) from Unleashed, to allow me to wake mine up per the the very consistent suggestions.

Have fun!

Thanks!  I didn't seek out the moonroof-delete, I honestly would have preferred to have one.  But this was the only PP in a color I liked that wasn't 200+ miles away in my price range.

Sorry about the pic, Google Photos has made it a lot harder to share pics lately for some reason.

I think the image is not in the public domain, it expects login & stuff.

Welcome tspangle, great to have you here! Hope 2014 is better than 1993 :)

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!
