I just bought my 2016 SHO on 9/30/16.  This replaces my 2001 Crown Vic that I bought 16 years ago, that is now going to my son.
The first purchase I had to make for my SHO was a winter wheel/tire set.  I always get my tires from Tirerack.com and when I went browsing the size they suggested was a 235/55-18.  I did the math and found the 225/60-18 were a much more accurate replacement.  I contacted customer service and they confirmed my findings and have since updated there suggested size on the web site.  Yes, I'm that picky about details like that.  LOL!
I can't wait to start doing some performance upgrades.  Some of the rides on here are just awesome.
I look forward to reading up in your forums and sharing my experiences as I move forward.

Welcome, jbrown, glad to have another enthusiast in our group!  Good on ya for correcting the "flaw" on TireRack's site, that is bound to help a bunch of people in the future.  Please do post pics of both your SHO and your/your son's Crown Vic :)

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

225 is getting a bit on the skinny side for a 4400 lb car....yes i know narrow is good for snow but i bet you will have those snow shoes on dry and wet pavement as well in between snow falls

There is an acceptable range for tire sizes...the 255 width tires on the 19" sho cars are not the same diameter as the 20's and new to old tires will change the diameter by more than 1/2"

Did you check and see if your speedo is off at all?  The stock height looks to be 28.7 and the 225/60 is 29.6, that's a pretty big difference.

Welcome and looking good, I run all season tires year round in the stock 245/45/20 size (BFG SportComp2 tires) on aftermarket 20x8.5 mustang rims.

Yeah you're right, when I googled "225 60r18 diameter" the quick results had 29.6 which were apparently from a different size.  I see you are also known as Jeff'smystic, I know I have talked to you in the past on SVTperformance and the Corral.

Getting rid of my second Cobra is my biggest car regret.  It was a white 98 hardtop with black cloth interior, less then 20k miles and an S-trim.  First kid came along and I ditched it :(

BTW, the coolest part about moving from my all black '01 Sport Crown Vic to the '16 Tarus SHO is that my kids HS friends who thought I worked for a Government agency...unmarked cop, FBI, NSA...CIA...the list literally kept going.  Anyway, now that they have been in SHO, they just think its cool.  I've been told, that before my new car, they were afraid to come to my house...had no idea!

I do continue the military cut but never thought it would have that effect.  Who the fk knows what kids think!
