The other day I was in the wifes X sport, about 3=40 minutes into a highway cruise I got in it a bit to pass and she fell on her face, CEL started flashing and no power.  Pulled over, checked codes and had misfire cylinder 2, 3 and multiple misfire.  Checked all plugs and connections and all looked good.  Started her up and runs like a top again.  We continued on with another 100 miles of driving that day with no other issues.  I need to change the plugs anyway so I will pull them and check to see what they look like.  only 25k on it but since plugs are so easy and affordable its cheap insurance.  Any other thoughts on what it could be or am I on the right track with plugs?

I would check the CAC (intercooler) for oil build up.  Kind of sounds like it might have ingested some oil?

^ agreed.   Once you pull the plugs (please post pics), the cause might be more evident.  Compromised spark plugs were at the root of TSB 11-08-19.  Tuned, or untuned?

Did you have your foot completely off the gas right before you got into it?  Did you have anything plugged into the OBD port at the time?  Gas filled recently, and from a "non-usual" station?  Recent service?

The electronic throttle body is always a possible culprit in sudden power loss situations, but here you had codes for misfires.

I didn't have my foot off the gas, just cruising along (not using cruise).  Nothing plugged in.  I did fill up at the start of the trip but from the station we use all the time on both of our cars.  No recent service.  I deleted to codes but if I recall correctly they were:

P0300
P0302
P0303

I guess we can rule out a VC gasket leak, since you checked the plugs & connections.

If tuned, 25k miles is a bunch of miles. I would most definitely swap those plugs, first. Iridium is an amazing conductor, but inversely lacks the longevity that a platinum electrode has. Next on the list I would check the intercooler or air intake for any type of excess oil. That could also cause what you are describing intermittently.

Simple solution for these ecoboost misfires. Drill a weep hole in the intercooler and this will evacuate the moisture buildup and oil buildup. This is a very common 3.5 ecoboost issue. Swap in new SP534 plugs gapped to .030 and you willbe stutter/misfire proof. The F150 crowd has been doing this for years now and it is tried and true. I have done this on my SHO and it worked great. No more problems.

F150 issues are not necessarily SHO/Flex/XSport/MKS issues.  It may be a workaround, it may not.  But the fact you are opening up a closed system means if you choose to do it it is very much at your own risk.

Keep in mind this is a tried and true method to prevent misfires. Yes, all 3.5 ecoboost engines share these problems.

Mine doesnt...ive only seen a very small number of transverse 3.5's have misfire problems....and who even knows what those cases were caused from

No, this is definitely true. Ford has no fix for the condensate buildup. They tried making it less efficient and it still made condensate. This is still a problem on 15/16 F150 ecoboost engines. Ford went so far as to relocate the front license plate back to the center of the bumper in hopes of impeding air flow. Still a no go.

Rule of thumb is to drill the weep hole. No other way to stutter / misfire - proof these ecoboosts

Ok, enough discussion on this. Thanks for posting the info, 93Cobra, now people have enough info to decide for themselves if they want to do it or not (again, at their own risk/reward).  Further discussion of this "fix" can be taken offline.
