Title: First intercooler I've seen.
Post by: SHOnUup on January 16, 2015, 10:02:01 PM
Maybe it could be modified to retain lower grille?

Price from owner of the vehicle said it would be a $1000 for the kit. That's not from seller so who knows?

Did they achieve cooler temps?

Looks like I may have to remount my Auxiliary Tranny Cooler to ABOVE the bumper.

Shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I wonder if the Mobsteel (lower) grille can still be retained as it's much thinner than stock?

If not, again, no biggie.

Try'n to scope that plumbing on the psgr side (from the image posted of front clip off) makes me wonder about the OEM washer tank. Was it removed?

If so, then there goes my Methanol Reservoir.

Would take a lil more work to plumb a new one in, albeit in a different location at that.

Or maybe different plumbing of the intercooler itself perhaps?

IDK.

Great find btw! :ok:

Looks promising. Now to see the tangible results / improvements over the OEM cooler.

Speaking of that, does the aftermarket unit completely replace the OEM unit, or supplement it?

So many questions!

I spoke with them on there Facebook account. They plan to make duplicates, there is a picture of just the kit as well they posted when I asked if they planned to reproduce the kit

I know Rich was speaking to the actual vehicle owner as well.

Maybe between the two of you, you guys can pull some extra pics from there, & re-post 'em here.

Some of us don't do FB (like me) due to employer imposed restrictions.

I would agree.

One less hassle to worry about.

Whew.

It will be nice to have the piping and we can swap put the core if its not big enough

Would like to see that last shot with the piping in place to be sure about the reservoir, but like bpd said, relocation can be done ...

Washer res was moved.

If you're using meth, would this thing still help?

Maybe someone who has access to FB, can shoot a suggestion over to the vendor and ask if they could take the two far ends/corners, as it relates to the face edge, or front of the IC, to angle those corners in a lil bit, and/or make those ends follow the curvature of the OEM bumper.

Perhaps by doing so, BEFORE THEY GO TO FINAL PRODUCTION, that the lower grille can possibly still be retained.

Judging by the pics, that doesn't seem like to unreasonable of a request, as it appears the amount necessary to trim/angle/curve down, appears minimal at best, in relation to the overall size of the IC itself.

If you're using Meth, would this thing still help?

There are a few owners who have opted to run a larger Meth Reservoir in the trunk (in lieu of using the OEM Washer Tank commonly used), and simply plumbed the lines from the trunk, all along the undercarriage, and up to the pump.

Not a big deal in all reality, but somewhat labor intensive nonetheless.

I would think that given the anticipated benefits of running a larger, after market IC, would outweigh the inconvenience of relocating the Meth Res, and it's corresponding plumbing.

I see they have this kit for sale on their site now.  and its $100 off.  Too bad it probably wont work on a flex.  but incase anyone was still wondering about the kit.  its $899 on their site.

Black Market Racing built one for Jacob's car here locally, pure one off big IC setup.

Erick was telling me about the stuff you guys are doing with that car. It's going to be a beast when it's all said and done!  Should easily be the fastest/highest HP SHO when you guys finish.

Curious is his car non PP by chance?  If so,  was adaptive cruise relocated?

Wanting to do an intercooler but wondering if either A. it can be relocated or B. IDS can flash me to only use standard cruise.

Hmm I need to confirm with Z2S then.  Thought I read somewhere you'd have to relocate the adaptive cruise radar. Hopefully that's not the case!

You were/are correct Wilson...... Z2S thought it would require relocation as quoted by them below.......

Looks like it won't allow the sensors in the lower driver's side to work for adaptive cruise and collision avoidance.... True or false?

I love the unit,... If the above is true, maybe a unit capable of supporting "only" 750-800WHP that leaves these sensors and the protective facia in the lower valance in place for those who have these features?

Our test car does not have adaptive cruise so I cannot confirm it will fit or not. Just from pictures I have seen, I think it's safe to say it would need to be relocated.

The front grill and lower facia can both be used with this intercooler.

ACC Radar relocation issue aside......

Z2S has been eerily quiet on this entire matter and hasn't posted in several months.

It's beginning to travel down the path that so many other promises have in regards to promised mods, and/or proving their worth/claims.

I wouldn't hold your breath at this point.

I hope they're going to reinforce the front bumper area. They had to remove the front bumper crash bar and that piece of square tube probably won't do much at 35 mph.

It's officially "race car" status...something you don't take the family for rides in, and is out of normal insurance parameters.

We need enough people to ping Wagner to make a FMIC. Their design is best I have seen and not SQUARE. Basic flow dynamics, curves flow better.

Look them up.

I was wondering if a larger fmic would benefit us any. Maybe like the stock fmic from say a ... SRT4 or something. Just fab custom piping and go. How do tuners figure if it would help/harm us?
