Bye Bye SHO

Well friends...
The wife and I are due with our first child at the beginning of February. Shortly before we found out we were pregnant, we bought a Doberman puppy. The puppy is now 60lbs at 6 months and takes up the entire back seat. We now realize the dog and baby will not fit in the back seat of our cars at the same time. The dog will be 90-100lbs fully grown. After extensive research, we decided on a 2014 Flex ecoboost with 12k miles. My 2010 SHO now has 125k miles with 9k left on Ford premium warranty. My wife's 2013 plain jane Impala(which I hate driving) has 70k with 30k left on the factory warranty. We have to get rid of one. My brain says trade in the SHO and drive the wife's old impala to work. Considering how much I have abused that SHO plus the mileage, the car will just be a huge gamble after that warranty is gone. My genitalia says "screw that, keep your car." I had to remind my genitalia that it got me in this predicament in the first place.

The Flex will be my wife's car. She hates how my car rode and how violent the shifting was. So she said I am not allowed to tune the Flex. So no more fun.... Unless I can sneak the tune in without the firm shifting? I imagine that would just be too hard on the clutches....

This  forum site has been very good to me. This has been a great community that has helped and saved me tons of money. Shout out to Torrie and AJP for the tunes that made me love this car even more.

The car gets traded in Saturday. Once it's gone, I will have a set of weathertech floor mats and a tuner I will need to sell. Selling the cats will probably be not worth that hassle. I have not been this attached to a car like this since high school. It's depressing really... Maybe this lack of speed will make me get off my butt and finish my old hot rods...

Congrats first of all on the 2 pending additions to the family!  Febs not too far away :). Great color, and LOW mileage on the Flex too!  I hope you got the max Ford warranty on it as well.

Sad to see the SHO go, but the additions will more than make up for it.  No harm in tuning the impala either, after all fluids are refreshed etc.  no reason to bore yourself to death.  And yeah, get off your butt!!!  LOL.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

With out a doubt we will have the Premium Ford warranty. I have purchased 2 warranties on the SHO and every one paid for itself 2-3 times over.
We have not made the deal yet. But it has been decided that we are coming home with that Flex Saturday (Unless I can talk her into taking a 6 hour drive to get one that is the same in every way plus the vista sunroofs at 20k miles for same price.)

Nice to have a choice :D  How's glass insurance in IL?  Not sure any warranty will cover that.

Our insurance (AAA) has a $50 deductible on glass.

I bought the PPE cats because one of the originals was throwing codes. Turns out Ford's best warranty doesn't cover cats. I think it's just gonna be too much work. Unless we can take the flex home before trading in the SHO

Well the dealership 6 hours away dropped their price $2500 below the price of the local one. Plus it has the sunroof and 40/40 seats. It was a long ride, but worth it. Only options It didn't have was the refrigerator and the tow package.

To everyone else that has switched to a Flex. Does everyone around you drive different than they did when you had a car? Like it feels like they all assume they can drive like A-holesaround a flex and pull out in front of you or cut you off. Road rage is tingling...

Congrats are in order, then!!!  Cops don't drive the Flex, so no respect, you are correct :)  But traffic around here is getting to be like in NYC.  Being cutoff is routine.  I cannot allow a good following distance sometimes or people will cut in and literally we will be driving bumper to bumper because of the heavy traffic.  Not a lot, but it does happen often enough.  You can bet I am always ready to brake, LOL.
