So taking my 16 show with 13k miles on it tomorrow morning(8-17-17) if the issue is a rod knock what should I expect ford to do,
Get the whole engine replaced or just the piston with the issue?
Crazy this knock is loader then my subie.

Photo shows how warn the oil has gotten obviously shouldn't go by Ford's recommend change  also that I have never been lower then this point on oil.

Issue was rod Bearing failure.

Normally they don't tear into the engine, preferring to replace it with a remanufactured engine.  Not sure on short block or long block though.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Yea.. cheaper for them to swap the engine then spend the time correcting/finding all the damage that could be there.. c

So got a call at 5pm saying they haven't had a engine specialist free yet that the car would need to stay the night and that normally an engine issue is big but thinks this issue is not that big??? Maybe he thinks it's a belt or pcv thing don't know didn't think to ask his opinion at the time.

An exhaust leak at the right spot can sound like bottom end trouble until you get close enough to separate the two.  Hopefully it ends up being something simple like that.  Good luck!

This is true, however, exhaust ticks are generally not as thuddy as this one. The closest noise I can think of from an exhaust point of view was a bad manifold gasket... even then, it didn't sound like a small hammer thudding away... hard to explain...

I wish the OP best of luck and if it's under warranty who cares.. let Ford fix it. Just make sure they do!!

That noise does not sound deep enough to me to be rod or piston noise.  Sounds more like valve train to me.  This might not be as catastrophic as to require a new engine.   Hard to tell for sure without really using a stethoscope at various points around the engine.

Sounds like rod knock to me.  That's metal on metal.  I'd be surprised if it's anything else, but definitely keep us updated.

Dealer called said they will need to replace the engine he doesn't remember what the issue was I'll have more info Monday

Ouch!  Think the boost boost max caused any of the premature engine wear?

Dang!  With such low miles, I was hoping for something simple.

Odd I never got a check engine light.

Seeing what codes he got I can see what caused the issue but odd I never saw a light or saw codes when I scanned with torque pro or FORScan
