i have a 2013 SHO non pp took it to the track last night and ran a 13.24 at 105 mph (best time)(70 degrees out side temp) my mods are colder gapped ngk pluggs, 170 tstat , drop in k&n, 93 oct tune from torrie, 3 bar. i was impressed but "not impressed" i was thinking with all this done i would at least break into the 12s range. what else do you think i need to do, i contacted torrie and he said i need to data log and submit. i guess ill give that a try but i was still thinking i should be in the 12's. and thoughts guys?
Post up a pic of your timeslip if you can. My first tune from torrie ran about same mph. First revision got me in 12s.
You need to datalog to know more.
My 1/4 mile matches yours EXACTLY. 13.09, 1st run best run of night. for me and my car the issue is the standard pump gas and heat of the track and heat of the IAT2 force the car to reduce spark. I am willing to bet you have the SAME spark loss as i did.
SPARK IS LIFE.
Its all about the launch and the IAT2 temps and the spark strategy in the ECU. I would data log 5+ runs in and post them.
the less time you spend cooling the motor, the hotter the IAT2 and block, the less spark you will have. less spark.. less torque.
Or get a race tune and grab some much higher octane gas. the race tune will assume a SET higher octane fuel and have higher spark limits mapped out. So when it gets hot and starts pulling spark (and it will no matter what without meth) the higher octane will help by having higher value spark limits when HOT.
Edit case in point:: my best 1/4 mile is 13.09 with a DA or about 40 feet and a IAT2 of about 110.. same mods as you. *BUT* if i drive to my testing spot, and my IAT2 is 80f or less i can pull and datalogged 12.6 second runs to 105mph. In a cold state, have left 4 dead NUMEROUS modded 335i's, stock new 5.0 mustangs, hopped up bro-dozers and STI's.
