I've been looking for a rattle vibration sound for a while now that comes and goes. Found out it was the temperature/humidity sensor which is located next to the starter button. This sensor has a small (squirrel) fan to pull air across the sensor and this was making the noise. The sensor was $40 but well worth not having to listen to the noise coming from it. Here is a part number of the sensor if interested or have the same issue.

That little sensor acts as a magnet and attracts dirt/dust inside the vent which is located in a very awkward hard to reach location to clean out.
I have always used a can of compressed dust cleaner which does wonders or simply remove the cover which is secured by four clips and clean it out,its just the (OCD) in me which likes to do some preventative maintenance. LOL.
But glad you found your issue because mine was coming from the steering column years back. Z

Yeah I took it out and blew it out the first time and then sprayed some wd-40 when that didn't work. Not bad to access it though only two screws and pop the panels off to get to it. What is also weird about it is that it would change sounds when G force (going around corners) was applied. This made it difficult to narrow down at first where it was coming from. Originally thought it was coming from the nav unit like it was a loud cooling fan, ( I was unaware that this sensor had a fan). But when I placed my hand over the vent slots you could feel the air flow and the noise would go away, once you removed your hand it would come back.

Here is a link to the part. You can see the fan in the slot of the sensor that provides air flow across the sensor head.
