Ok, SHOdded brought up a good point, seems that lately there has been some "disgruntlement" between end users who have different tunes.

SOOOO I thought it might be beneficial for the community to provide what you perceive as the best things about the tuner you work with!

As new folks join our awesome fantastic humble community, they can read up on why everyone likes their tuner, as opposed to all the bad vibes.

Rules are simple... only good vibes! Not negative comments or snide remarks...

I have had the pleasure of working with three tuners... so I will start..

LMS - I really appreciate how cool their tunes runs, even their race tune keeps the IATs really low. Additionally their knowledge base on this platform really adds value. I enjoy the well rounded tunes and their part throttle response which gives their tunes a very well rounded feel. Also, the few times I have had to talk with support they have been gracious in their time to answer my questions. This tune costs an initial $600 for the MyCalibrator tuning device and tunes. Includes 4 tunes and updates to the tunes as they get released.

AJPTURBO - I can't say enough great things about this guy. He took the time to dig through my datalogs and strategy to really engineer a good solid tune on my car. His support is fantastic in that he explains in great detail the changes he makes, why he makes them, and what to expect! I have a plethora of back and forth emails with him which helps me feel extremely comfortable with what he is changing in the tune. His knowledge base on our platform and the different ways to approach creating power along with his transmission tuning is phenomenal. The tune I'm currently running is provided by Brad and it makes driving this beast of a car really fun. Pricing was $150 but did not include the SCTx4 device since I already had the device. Thus far it's been unlimited revisions as needed.

Unleashed - Torries response times on making adjustments are really second to none. All hours of the day and night I can email him and get a response within 30 minutes with an updated tune.  His price is very reasonable and getting product from him is extremely fast and easy. Along with his no holds willingness to tune anything you throw at him. $400 for the SCTx4 device and one tune with unlimited revisions thus far.

NCs and SRs will be actively "restrained", no exceptions :)

FYI Due appreciate you keeping the Ecoboost community up to speed with your initial thoughts in respect to each Tuner but think it might be beneficial to add the "Pricing" aspect per Tuner into the mix, thanks.  Z  :)

I've only worked with AJPTurbo, but he does amazing work.

As StealBlue mentioned, he takes the time to explain what he is changing and why (referencing the datalogs, and sending screenshots as well). He takes additional safety measures, such as reducing spark over certain IAT, and keeps the factory torque management in place to soften the stress on the system. And he is pretty good at helping to troublshoot issues as well.

Tuning with AJPTurbo is like having your own personal tuner.

Ajp turbo tune here also!!! Gotta love the support from Brad, I was intrigued by the power his car made with no meth.. had unleashed also, torrie is known for his response times being quick. With his e20 tune I ran a 12.4 just tune... hoping to beat that time in a couple of weeks with my ajp tune

Ha ha i wouldn't quite go there yet. . . but let me help you along. LOL

Personally, i have only worked with 2 tuners. One of which is a 3 letter acronym we can't mention here. Based on the rules of this thread i would have nothing to say anyhow as i don't really have anything positive to say about that particular tuner. I only ran the tune for a month before contacting Brad . . AJPturbo.

Brad right off the bat was extremely personable and answered a lot of my questions about his background and general qualifications as a tuner. Come to find out i was foolish to questions his skills.

He reviewed my existing tunes logs and gave me honest and factual feedback without ever asking who's tune it was and avoided making any derogatory or negative remarks despite the fact he would have been justified in doing so. This was all before i payed him a dime or committed to doing so.

It didn't take me long to decide i wanted to work with him. The first tune he sent me was a conservative mild boost tune just to see how my car reacted. It didn't react quite the way we wanted- commanded boost was sporadic and didn't stay consistent throughout a WOT pull. We deliberated back and forth to troubleshoot if this was a corrupt strategy or an issue caused by my elevated altitude(i'm @ 5500ft+). After a visit to the dealer it seemed i had the most up to date strategy. Ultimately we settled on the fact that it was caused by the altitude. Brad sorted out the issue within a few revisions. This alone likely would have left me SOL with any vendor tune. I don't feel many if any vendors at all would have been willing to dig into the issue and gain the experience of tuning at my specific altitude and persevere through the problems in can create. Not only that but he figured out a way to have the car automatically switch to a torque based algorithm as i climb further in altitude instead of commanding a flat boost value and over-working the turbos as the air gets thinner. I'm pretty dang sure i have the only tuned SHO that will behave this way!

After we got that speedbump  out of the way all the tunes, revisions and progress moved along pretty quickly. Every new revision he sent he gave me a detailed explanation of what changes were made along with his interpretation of the logs i had sent.
To fast forward a bit . . I'm now on rev18 of my 91oct and rev5 of E20 tune. along the way i had Brad revise part throttle settings, torque converter setting so i could launch harder, and various other minor things that i was just generally picky about. I also would propose some off the wall ideas  for the tune and he would discuss pro's and cons with me. I now feel i have a 100% custom tune tailored to my driving style. I also believe i will be setting some records this track season for a no bolt on SHO at my altitude.

. . OK now you can call it a nut hugger thread LOL!
