It's really not as hard as it may seem.  If you have basic hand tools, and are even a little bit handy, you can do it.  Plan it out, take your time, do things the right way.  Working on cars is fun.

I would say its something to think about with you being so close to there facility and all could have its advantages such as if any issues were to arise.
I know once the install is complete the calibrator would put his full attention to your car which is a plus.
The Dynometer alone is roughly 300.00 which is included in the estimate correct?
Two 5 gallon methanol.
What else is included? Best of luck to ya. Z

300 to dyno TUNE or 300 do to pulls? If thats the tune price its super cheap (though I assume in your case a bit lower than someone just walking in the door, due to you haveing a tuner/tunes from LME already). If that is just for pull ... well... lets just say I payed 1/3 of that for my pulls at a super reputable shop.

But generally a dyno tune (with customer already having handheld, etc.) is in the ballpark of $500-$800 depending on shop, dyno time, complexity of the setup, etc., so if they said $1750 including that, that leaves ~1000 for install (Still seems high, but hey, they charge more than $80 an hour, $100/hr IIRC, so if its an all day job seems reasonable.

ZSHO, I still want to know if that was 300 for dyno tuning or 300 for power pulls? I'm really curious now...

If Z doesn't know readily off hand, the phone number for LMS is: (313) 561-5500.

Save Z the hassle, and call for yourself.

Z already does A LOT of work here on the EBPF boards as it stands.

Certainly you can make a call on your own, yes?

I can call them, myself, yeah, but I figured since Z had a quote for them as he is planning to have them do his install, that the number came from his quote. I would likely get a different quote all together since I am not a current LME customer, nor do I have a MyCal.

Then why the curiosity? Hahaha.

Seems silly if you're not a customer, and sounds like not really motivated to be one either if you don't have their Mycal device.

Just an odd request in that case.

Unless of course the conversation dives towards another debate of vendor 'x' does this, and vendor 'y' does that, this one's cheaper, and that one's more expensive, and so and so is better and blah blah blah.

Plenty of us have been down that path before. Just staving off a debacle before it unfolds.

LME is the only one, currently, with Flex-Fuel tunes, for the HPFP (I think F150/longitudinal only currently), so the info would get filed under "research" for me, since I believe a new MyCal is similar to the cost of an SCTX3. So assuming dyno-tune we would be looking at ~standard $800 or so for a dyno tune + handheld +cost of HPFP, which may be worth it it so that I can just fill the tank up with whatever fuel is on hand. Granted Meth is a different topic, so it may be worth it for me to call and ask in my specific case, but I figured it would give a decent ball park estimate on what cost would be.

I have no cares for a this guy vs. that guy debate either, I think there have plenty of those, merely want a few more facts to inform my decision making process.

Awesome sauce there derfdog!

Hopefully Z can come through then with any info that will answer your questions, if not, I still wouldn't hesitate to give LMS a call anyhow.

I think just like any other vendor, they'd toss in some package pricing and what not, so I wouldn't necessarily discount your (potential) quote, in as far as it being anything drastically different from Z's.

Especially if you're looking at all you are and are in "contemplating mode". Certainly worth a call for sure. Good luck.

I would also add that its from my understanding that the new install procedure has changed significantly since last fall and they are doing the methanol installs as direct ports which keeps an even amount of M1 injected into each cylinder.  Instead of placing one single nozzle in the air inlet piping, they decided that it's much more beneficial to have a multiple spray design that would spray the methanol directly into the engine instead of drawing it in through the throttle.  There is turbulence and other forces at play that causes the methanol to have an inconsistent delivery into the cylinders allowing more meth to enter one than the other and vice versa, which AFAIK is a bit more time consuming and labor extensive then before. When I spoke to Rodney, the owner of ProMeth, a while back, he indicated that the uneven distribution of meth is indeed an issue with our manifold (meth tends to be forced to the rear of the manifold), and that's why he advocated direct port injection.  I'm going to give my single-nozzle system a try for now, but I may eventually head in that direction.
