Not the axle or the wheel bearing... hmm.

PTU possibly?  How many miles?  Is it leaking at all from the vent?  Ever change the fluids?

Changed the PTU fluid recently and the original fluid looked decent. 45k miles. No leaks.

Well round three. Changed both front wheel bearings and still have the hum/harmonic sound. Having to take back for more trouble shooting Monday. Techs think it's resonating from another source but haven't been able to pinpoint yet.
I had a mechanic friend that said he had a truck give him a fit trying to locate a similar problem.  He said it sounded just like a drivers front wheel bearing and ended up being passenger side rear. He's even said he's had transmissions send harmonics out that give wheel bearing diagnosis sounds??
Anyway just ready to get this fixed so I can get the LMS tune back in it....

The decision's must be dealership based. When my injector quit, they replaced all of them under warranty. It's a Ford extended warranty if that matters.

Have you smelled hot gear oil lately? My car made a wheel bearing noise shortly after I made the dealership change my PTU fluid and somehow  the PTU fluid slow leaked onto the exhaust and destroyed the PTU 2 weeks later.

No gear oil smell yet. This has been happening for the past 10k miles. The dealer originally blamed it on tire noise. Which wasn't too far fetched as the original tires were cupped and making a lot of noise. Put new tires on about 4K miles ago and noise was separated.  Luckily under warranty but getting close. I actually changed the PTU fluid thinking that may have been the issue but there was no change after the oil change.???
