I bought 6 qts of merc lv and gave them to my mechanic to drain and fill my flex. he said only 4 came out. all the reading I've done here states that 5.5-6 qts should have come out. I suppose maybe it was low? I haven't checked it since I bought it in may. I told him we can do it again next month before I drive to fl, so at least more old fluid will get cycled out.

Probably just did not drain it long enough.  But typically no more than 1/2 will come out at any given time.  Was the fluid at FULL before the drain?  Maybe he did not use the drain plug?  IDK.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

My Xsport drains 3 qts or less. still takes 5.5 every 5k. this last one i did i only drained like a quart and a half after 5k tuned oil was all sludgey and dark brown. I have an OCC but it doesn't collect that much. low oil was one of a few factors starting to give me problems with VCT actuation/oil control solenoid(s). was litterallly just searching for a topic like this on here because i did the oil change last night.

I think he was talking about transmission fluid? If your car is burning that much oil, you have an issue, and I would look to get that fixed ASAP or you may be looking at replacing a motor in the near future.

there was a TSB for the older model SHOs like 10-14 for oil consumption with smokey exhaust at idle. didn't show up on applicable TSBs for my VIN.

so I picked the car up. he said only 3 qts came out, but 5.5 did go in to get it at the correct level.

nick and derf, this is regarding transmission fluid, not engine oil.

I changed my 13 XSport xmsn fluid at 30k and got 5.5 quarts out. I drove it to warm to operating temp and parked it on my driveway at a slight downhill angle to get as much to the front of the pan as possible. I pulled the plug and let it drain about 10 mins, until no more drops were coming out.

I assume capacities are the same as the SHO?

Do you have any oil in the throttle body inlet or CAC? What kind of OCC? Maybe start another thread, since a different topic than the OP.
