High EGT Part Throttle

Hey all,

The last few failures has me a bit nervous, so I wanted to ask you all (and possibly Torrie) about something I have noticed for a while.  Under light throttle conditions, my EGT's climb to as high as 1450.  What is odd is it is only light throttle, full throttle it will drop considerably (1200 or less I believe).  Is that too high for light throttle conditions, should I be concerned?  I get 0 knock and AFR seems normal, just the high EGT under light driving.

Thanks,
Rik

Light throttle = running lean = hotter exhaust temps
Heavy throttle = running rich = lower exhaust temps

1450F is well within safe parameters.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

As long the temp protections aren't disabled then I wouldn't worry about it...The car will tell you when it's not happy with a CEL or DTC

While it's true running lean can make EGT's hot but  when running rich and under load for an extended time that is when EGT's will be hottest.

Without looking and off the top of my head I believe the stock temp limters are around 1700-1800 as the starting temps to trigger CEL's and failsafe cooling and fuel control.

I might be a little concerned if egt's are dropping like a rock at WOT.

Peak at light throttle is actually correct as you are combusting at stoich.
