Found this after I removed the engine cover. Does not seem to have anything connected?

Anybody know what's it's for?

That is the blow of valve and that plug allows the ECU to control the valve.  The plug for it comes off of the wire just in front of it and it looks to be hanging down in the picture.

I don't know why the previous owner would unplug that connector though.  Maybe there's some performance advantage...not sure, but I would fear a possible overboost with it disconnected.

Is the front one also disconnected?  Look up front to the left of the air box.

Yikes how do you not end up in limp home mode over and over like that?

Maybe with no signal it defaults to open instead of closed?  That would protect the motor and just leave the car down on power.  I would have thought a CEL at the least though.

Tbird6 please update your signature with your current vehicle.....have seen quite a few new X-Sports having a a simliar issue with the rear bov unplugged or damaged causing an [underboost] condition and should have a code set such as a PO-299. Z     https://www.obd-codes.com/p0299

Sorry I have been all thru my profile and can't find anywhere to put my car information?? Oops just found it and added my car info.

It's a 2013 MKS Ecoboost. The reason I ask is this was purchased in December as a CPO 200 point inspected car and I have found ALL kinds of stuff they missed! Before this I just found the oil is about 2" over full on the dipstick!

I use ScanXL software and have no codes or check engine lights in the 6K miles we have had the car. Still learning this car as I am an old SHO guy and had 2-1993 ATX SHO's in the past.

I can't believe leaving this unhooked did not set a code either? That's why I scanned the car when I found it unplugged. I will look closer as I was blind and did not see that plug hanging even though I looked! Many eyes are better than one!

Still don't understand how you can have a life-time non-serviceable fuel and transmission filters? How many miles is a lifetime?

CPO doesn't mean bulletproof.  It just means that the items Ford is most concerned about having a payout on are checked.  Oils, fluids, filters, not so much of a concern unless obvious.  And the car has to pass the state safety inspection.  So they might replace wiper blades, for instance.  Beyond that, it is incumbent on the owner to do a onceover themselves and/or with a trusted mechanic.

Well thanks for that as again I got it in the wrong place!!

Just turned 30K miles. I can post an engine bay picture but with the giant engine cover it blocks most of the view.

Anything in particular I should take a picture of?

Had massive corrosion on the positive battery post as well as a non-factory battery (AAA brand?) that was replaced when the car was barely a year old. So that is strange too?

Just found that the transmission fluid does not even show on that weird steel cable dip stick on the transmission! But VERY glad to see drain and fill ports. I just came from a Lincoln LS and a Jaguar S Type R. Both of those had no transmission dip stick and getting the correct transmission fluid level was a PITA!

Since it's such a short dip stick and the car drives fine. I am hoping it's only a little bit low on fluid. But I will start with my normal fluid replacement routine of drain and fill multiple times. I will also start that on my RDU and PTU after reading this forum.

I had to get the battery corrosion corrected on my CPO as well :)  You should have been handed a Carfax and/or Autocheck when you bought the MKS, at least they did with my Edge when I asked for it.  That way you can get an idea of where it lived, and hopefully when the miles were accumulated.  In any case, if you live in very cold or very hot climates, you will want to at least get an 850CCA (such as the ToughMax Motorcraft) battery, or better yet, a suitable AGM battery.

Yes I have the carfax report and they show multiple check battery and charging system entries early on. Looks like the "A/C and heating control" was replaced at 1600 miles. Nothing but system checks after that.

But the good news is that it's a Texas car so no salt.

I will take your advice about the battery replacement but as of now the battery seems OK. I topped up the water because it was low and I do have some corrosion on the positive terminal of the battery itself. Which is NEVER a good sign!

My 27,000 mile CPO MKS came with oil leaks.  They just don't try very hard to catch everything.  Mine also was on it's second battery and now third.  I think these cars do best when they don't sit.  Judging by the miles on yours and mine, they may not have been daily transportation.

Have you found the connector and plugged it back in yet?  I'm hoping that you get a performance gain.

Not yet. Wife has the car at work. I really had not checked anything since we bought it. My mistake! After finding the oil over filled I started going thru it like I normally do with a car that's new to me.
