A CEL blocks out the ability to remote start?  Or, is that a separate problem?

Good about the emissions testing.  Under those circumstances, I would not worry too much about the CEL.  Just get a good tune from a reputable source like LME, Unleashed, LET, etc and have them turn off the rear O2's.

The dealer can reset the codes, but the CEL will come back regardless of what they do short of replacing your aftermarket DP's with the factory ones.  And you don't want that :)

Having a CEL does indeed prevent the remote start from operating.
No tuners where I live but there are a number of them less than two hours away......just need to find a reputable one in the Edmonton area.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I wonder if adding an anti-fouler to my downstream 02 sensor would do the trick?

No need for a local tuner unless you really want to go that route.  LME, Unleashed, LET, etc can supply you with a tune and tuner through the mail.

LME more or less provides highly developed canned tunes.  They do not data log, but from what I understand, will work with you to make sure the tune is OK.

Unleashed and LET send you the tune and you can then, if you wish, get data logs from the car and provide them to the tuner.  The tuner will then work to fine "tune" the program to your car.

No need to ever visit them in person.

It might ... but if there is a legitimate issue, then it might make the issue worse.  Since the codes are on BOTH banks, there is likely an upstream problem if the downpipes are stock.  If you have aftermarket catless downpipes (or poor quality catted ones), that could trigger the codes as well.  Aftermarket catted downpipes need to have highflow highquality cats to work right.

So, need to find out if the downpipes are stock.  Very easy to do, they will look pretty ugly compared to pics of aftermarket downpipes LOL.

Perfect.  I appreciate all of the insight from everyone.  When I get home tonight I will take a good look to see what may be at play here.  My biggest concern is obviously preventing any damage, so hopefully it will be a quick fix.

If you only have an exhaust as mentioned on your first post then it could be relatively an easy fix which only requires a dealer visit to reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration based from this TSB.....while your there try to get the recalls performed if not done so already.  Z     TSB #TSB-14-0102

"Full Exhaust" includes down pipes.  Others would be called either cat back or axle back.  If he has "full exhaust," I'm sure that he has poorly operating aftermarket cats or no cats at all.

Good to know.  I assumed that because I purchased it from a stealer that they would have done so already, but I should check to be sure.

You might already have an LMS car LOL! We just north of Windsor so our Canadian contingency is large!

I bet you are correct.  If he provides you his VIN, could you tell if you've provided a tuner for the car?

That way he would also likely know what down pipes, thermostat, etc are in the car and get a tune/tuner that is correct.
