$400 for an SCT with 1 tune from Torrie at Unleashed and you will be in business, another $50ish for a 3bar map. If you wait for a deal, often you can get 2 tunes for that price. You will be VERY happy with the results and you wont have any warranty issues if you follow the rules.

If you're trying to avoid getting a tune and going with an aftermarket ECU or piggybacking to control factory injectors and timing you're going down a very difficult path. It's like the option to get from Phoenix to Vegas. You can fly or walk and you're choosing to walk. Don't take this option you'll get there eventually but it will be very very very expensive in both time and resources to make this happen.

Exactly!  A good tune is a good tune.  Use your foot to determine how much fuel you want to use.

I had a race tune, economy tune, and tow tune for my 6.0 Powerstroke.  The race tune got the best mileage, was the fastest and had the best driveability. I even used it to tow light loads and just kept an eye on EGT's.  The tow tune neutered power so bad that the truck had to work harder and had even higher EGT's.

I think that tuning companies sell you on the idea of multiple tunes to make more money, but the reality is you just need one really good, well sorted out tune.

Unless, of course, your secondary tune if for different fuel, meth injection, nitrous, etc.

Others have explored this much more than I with this platform, but I think we are restricted by the mechanical abilities of the torque converter.  It can only stall so high.  We also have a fair amount of traction with the AWD.  In the end, I think your best bet is a program that allows the highest stall possible that is reasonable and just brake torque it and go.

I've never seen substantial wheel spin in the videos of the faster SHO's.  Most are cutting pretty darn incredible short times compared to what I'm used to with a 2 wheel drive car.

If you get to the power level where you need a sophisticated traction control, I think you are back to needing a Motec.
