Pretty sure cseverens had looked up the catalog at one point and said the 20" wheels are 34 lbs each (in 2013).

Dam, that's heavy if that's true... and if that's the case, then even the new rims I'm getting which are just under 27 lbs is still shaving off a somewhat decent amount of weight then. I'll take it!

Not a problem. And like I said they definitely were lighter when I got my 20s. Just make sure that at somepoint you change the tires to a more SHO appropriate size, since mustang tire sizes are not the ideal size for a SHO.

So the wheels are going to be 19×8.5... but the tires are sumitomo HTR Z iii, 245/45 ZR-19... idk about tire size. They obviously fit the wheels cause they are already on them buy what do you mean the Mustang tires are different. Are they real low profile? Too fat? Or too skinny? What are they gonna look like. 19 inch rims is they I wanted to go, but I don't know what those tire measurements really mean or will look like. Thanksss

The two factory tire sizes on SHO's are...

255/45-19 and 245/45-20

The first number is the width in millimeters.  The second number is the percent of sidewall vs width.  The third number is the wheel diameter.

So, a 255/45/19 is 255mm wide and has a 114.75mm sidewall (255x.45).  Once mounted on a 19" wheel, the total diameter is 712.1mm (28" height)

Your current 245/45-20's are 728.5mm diameter (28.7" height)

245/45-19's are 703.1mm diameter (27.7" height)

So, when you switch from the your factory 20's to a 19" wheel with a Mustang tire, you will loose 1" of tire height.  1/2 will be the amount the car is lowered and 1/2 will be extra gap between your tire and fender.

Net result, is your car would be .5" lower and you'd have .5" more gap between tire and fender.

Aesthetically, gap between tire and fender is not pleasing to my eye.  However, you can eliminate gap with shorter (lowering) springs.  You just may end up with a car that is fairly low to the ground.

That was beautiful, thank you

Glad to help!  The numbers help to explain why I had a knee jerk reaction and said that it won't look good.

However, I was only comparing the 20" wheels to the 19" wheels with Mustang size tires.  If you look at the difference between the factory 19" wheel/tire and the Mustang wheel/tire, there's only .3" difference in tire height.  That is barely noticeable.  Basically your car will sit very similar to a SHO without the 20" wheel option.

I have considered going down to 19" wheels as well, but I don't like the tire choices.  245/45-19's are inexpensive, but slightly small.  255/45-19's are a decent size, but are more expensive than 20" tires.  I have even looked at 18's, but once you find one that is tall enough, they aren't wide enough.  They are more likely to be tires meant for an SUV.

The only tire sizes that I have come up with that make sense if running the same size front and rear are:
255/45-19 (factory)
245/45-20 (factory)
255/45-20 (one size larger)
275/40-20 (wider and keeps same diameter, but best on a 9" wheel)

Looking good!

If you are going to lower it, I suggest holding off on the alignment until you have the springs installed.
