Another new owner

Hey guys another new member (who would have guessed). I've been silently stalking the forums for probably 4-5 months now getting prepared for my car that i bought about a month ago. I got myself a gem green 2013 SHO w/ PP. 62k miles (though its got 66 on it now, i can't stop driving the thing). Its my first turbo vehicle and first vehicle i've bought that was over $2500 dollars.

So here's a little bit about myself. I'm in the navy, working just north of detroit, my first and only go fast vehicle was a 93 mustang gt that i pretty much tore apart and rebuilt from the ground up back when i was 17. Had to lose that car when my baby girl was born and since then i rocked a 1990 bronco and a 2003 Aviator. When i got to Michigan a close friend of mine let me use his 2003 marauder until i was able to get myself a vehicle and it made me remember how much i liked being put into the seat so i looked around and found myself something that was safe (awd), got decent gas mileage (v6 twin turbo), useful and easy to have a kid in (this thing is HUGE and has four doors), yet still powerful. Now though i'm going to push it up a notch, when i don't have my baby girl of course, and go to LMS tomorrow and see what they can do for me so i can really let these horses sing.

So, to end this whole little rant i'm to go say thank you all for the knowledge i have learned over the past few month and the knowledge i will hopefully learn here soon!

Welcome to the community, L1ger, glad to have you here, Green Gem SHOs are not very common!  But first, thank you for your service and your attention to keeping your child just as safe

Be sure maintenance is uptodate on your SHO so you can enjoy the tune to the MAX:

• R&R trans fluid, PTU fluid, and RDU fluid
• R&R brake fluid (ideal time being when you decide to upgrade pads/rotors, which you will )
• Replace spark plugs (you will likely do this when you add the tune) gapped to 0.030 for a tune, or 0.035 for stock - Motorcraft plugs SP534 work well
• Check the PCV system - no pooling oil in turbo intake piping or intercooler
• Check for loose hoses/split clamps - some hoses will come loose under boost and you will need to ADD a clamp where there is none OEM
• Clean both MAP sensors with MAF cleaner
• Use synthetic blend or (highly recommended) full synthetic 5W30 engine oil; Motorcraft filter works great, Mobil 1 EP filter if you want to step up
• Check coolant level (should be at the COLD FULL mark for proper operation)
• With a tune, you may decide to go with a colder TStat, so you may need engine coolant (Specialty Green, I believe) at that time also

Z - I talked to Daniel (not sure how you spell his name) right before i posted my intro, boy did his accent throw me off, i'm more of a face to face kind of person. I've found things move ALOT faster and there's less games when your there in person! Pics will come as soon as the airforce lets me get her out on the runway with the A10's (a boy can hope) or i'm able to get a good one..

When i first went and looked at it, i noticed the ptu hadn't been checked off on their inspection list so we took a look at that and noticed it had a leak. So their workers put in an order and replaced it out completely with a new (used)one! Trans fluid and and diff fluid will be after mother nature stops running us over with her PMS cycle. In case you guys don't know, it's still snowing in Michigan.

I honestly don't know where to check for pooling oil (i've seen posts about it but i havn't seen any pictures. There's alot of hoses and stuff under there.)

There's two map sensors!?!

The rest of the list is either planned in the next week or so (going back into the shop Tuesday for oil leaking onto the front manifold cover that I cant locate) or done.

I guess one step at a time,first off there are two map sensors and one is located on top of the manifold and the otheris by the throttle body,start off by cleaning them with some maf/electronic cleaner,also highlighted are the wastegate hoses which have a tendency to pop off and cause issues,make sure all the hoses have 1/4 clamps on them because Ford does not supply them,also would be beneficial if you have some time soon to post some pics of the engine bay.  Z

Sounds like a sweet ride... And gem green. If memory serves ther's only a small handful of SHOs that color... It's great.  Bet your one of 10 or less!

I really dont know where to start but wheres your oil cap? Probably the front valve cover needs to be changed,also when did this oil leak start happening?  Z
