Cincinnati Area Maintenance

Hello everyone. I live in the Cincinnati Ohio area and i'm curious if anyone lives in this area where do they take their 3.5 EB for maintenance? I have a 2010 Lincoln MKS 3.5 EB with a Livernois 4x tune, 160 deg thermostat, and a 3bar map sensor.

Welcome, Jeffrey, glad to have you and your 2010 MKS here :)  Any particular servicing you need for the MKS right now?

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I need the front wheel bearings replaced and i have a small amount of fluid coming off my PTU shaft going to my right front wheel. I was looking for anyone who has had any good luck with dealerships around my area. I've taken it to one Ford dealer and they told me my bearings weren't bad enough yet. At about 70 mph you can hear the bearings make a whining noise. It sounds the same with the stock tune in it also. They said to bring it back when the bearing gets louder. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've had good luck with Car-X on Tylersville Rd in West Chester.  They changed out my PTU and RDU in a few hours and was very easy to work with.  Other than that, can't really comment much on Kings Ford purely due to they wouldn't change my PTU/RDU fluids and have only done oil changes for me so far...

Thanks for the INFO. I should state that I still have the Ford Extended Warranty so i would like to get it into a dealer so it saves some money!  ;D

In that case, i'd for sure call different dealerships then and explain what you have going on.  Any Ford dealership will work when it comes down to getting it done under warranty... its all a matter of WHAT dealership is willing to work on it. I would for sure express your concerns and that you were told by another dealership what they told you.

Like I said with CarX and doing the PTU/RDU fluid. It was about 100-120 bucks I think, plus they threw the old fluid in separate bottles so i could see how bad it was. PTU was actually great after 65k miles or so, but the RDU... it was gettin ROUGH

Just keep in mind that in addition to the infamous PTU vent leak, you can have trans-PTU seal leaks (fairly common) and PTU-driveshaft seal leaks (very rare, but has happened).  Don't know if PTU-drive axle (output side) tend to leak, I don't think so.  Best way to confirm what fluid is leaking is to take a sniff test along with a color check.  PTU fluid smells pretty bad compared to trans fluid.  PTU fluid will tend to be brown-dark brown in color, trans fluid will be pink-reddish.  PTU fluid is also significantly thicker than trans fluid.

Thanks everyone for the help!! I found a dealer who changed the wheel bearing and fixed the PTU leak all under the extended warranty!!!

I just had my PTU output (driveshaft) seal replaced at 67 K miles. I think it might have leaked earlier if I had had my PTU fluid changed earlier. By the time I gave up on convincing my dealer to check/change the fluid I had 60 K and it was already down to a couple of ounces of congealed goo. Fresh fluid started showing noticeable seepage a few thousand miles later. I'm blaming the seal failure on overheating due to Ford's forced neglect of PTU maintenance. It's so small a reservoir of fluid and its handling a lot of power that it should be serviced very often.
