Do we need Wide Band O2 sensors for tuning?

Hello everyone! I am curious, do we need Wideband O2's for tuning, or does our car already have them? I've heard from numerous people that you almost absolutely need one to monitor AFR's properly. Could anyone shed some light on this for me, as I never see anyone mention them here on the forums.

If I put this in the wrong place, please move it for me =)

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!
