2015 Sport Knock?

So I'm trading in my '11 SHO for a '15 XSport and I'm quite excited!  I'm going to miss the whole "performance car" thing, but having the same power plant and a lot more room excites me!  I can't believe the crap I've hauled in the SHO, but now I need more room, so it was a good move.  I get to pick her up by Monday!

My question is, does the XSport suffer the same issue that the SHO did with the knock sensor (wires resting on block) causing false readings, thus retarding timing and making acceleration sluggish?  I know my SHO had this issue and once I fixed it, it was a night and day difference.

Glad to see my intake is a direct swap, though I know some people hate the K&N setup.    I'm not quite sure I'll do anything else to it, though.

Haven't heard anyone mention it on this forum, but a search on the Explorer forum on just a general search on the web might be in order.  I don't think the Flex or MKS have been affected either ...

Nails what did you do to prevent it? I've noticed knock readings as high as 7 at wot. But I've now realized it does get better with better fuel (94) but never goes away. On stock tune.

I'm not sure what is up with KR and torque.

I saw the same thing but when i logged with SCT there was no knock, in fact it was advancing. This is not the first time SCT logs and Torque have been at odds.

I think we are all possibly missing something here.

Ya I'm logging on x4 never used torque. When I had a ford tech friend plug it in he said there was nothing abnormal when he took on drive.

That's good to hear!  I wasn't sure what to expect, but that makes me happy to know it shouldn't be an issue.  I will search around on Explorer Forum.  I know I found that forum earlier today, but haven't read much on it yet.

I actually saw a post about it on these forums.  Basically what you do is find the knock sensor (looking in the engine bay, it's on the right side of the block under the intake pipe sort of), and you'll see the wires gently resting on the block.  Since each detonation vibrates the motor, you're basically sending "signals" down the wire that's resting on the block, causing the knock sensor to go, "OH s***, mega knock happening!  Time to back off timing or your motor is gonna blow up!"  The fix is to pull the wires away from the block.  I got some of that corrugated tubing that you find around wires already and used a zip tie to permanently pull it away, giving it room to move if needed.
