Trying to put everything back to stock to take in for a few minor issues before the CPO 12/12 warranty is up.  Livernois installed the t-stat, plugs, CAI etc so I didn't do the install.

I have gently grasped the center and tried pulling but it doesn't want to come out.  Is there a trick to removing it or a recommended method?

Thanks!

Mine just literally fell out when I did it... Can you see a gasket or did they use one of those adhesive squeeze tube gasket materials when they installed.  Can you see mineral build up or corrosion?

It should just be sitting in there without any kind of adhesives and such.  Just take a pair of pliers and grab the end gently (use a rag to cover the pliers if need be) and give it a good tug to remove it.  It should come free without too much fuss.

Its probably the gasket hoilding it in place combined with corossion as mentioned above, would grab a heavy duty extended magnet combined with some needle nose pliers and pull that sucker out like a tooth(gently)of course and try not to spill any antifreeze, not good for the environment.  Z

Did this and it worked.  Thank you!  I was worried I'd break the damn thing off inside the engine LOL

Great to hear it worked out well for you, depending on the year of your vehicle might want to consider doing a coolant flush and possibly getting a new gasket for the stat, just a thought, the magnetic tool is a great investment combined with the mirror, works great for detecting leaks in tight spaces, especially by the firewall area and rear valve cover, best of luck.  Z    http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-magnetic-pick-up-tool-with-mirror/p-00947095000P

I had the same problem, I grabbed the t-stat with needle nose pliers and gave it a good tug.  the gasket is on the side you can see so it's not an issue of the gasket sticking.
