Looking to Trade... MKS or MKZ?

Just what it says.  The SHO has 69,000 miles with timing chain chatter at startup.  Still in warranty so I'll get that fixed.  But before it is really worth nothing I'd like to trade up.  Looking at either a MKS or MKZ, AWD is a must.  If I get an MKS it would definitely be Ecoboost, but if I go MKZ I'm not sure.  2.0T or 3.7?  Help me out everybody!

My son has the 3.7 in his '11MKS. It's a strong engine and does well but it is not in the class of the 3.5EB... Go for an MKS Ecoboost.  The MKZ is a great car, but like all today's midsized ones I found it small when I was looking.

Yeah, MKS EB for sure.  If you want something totally different, try a Acura TL SH-AWD or Infinti G37x.  Definitely drive more like a sports sedan than the SHO or MKS, IMO.  Chrysler 300C AWD and Charger R/T AWD (2014 or older) are also fun if you want V8 and AWD.

Also don't rule out a Cadillac XTS V-Sport... AWD and twin turbo 410HP.    They have steep depreciation, used ones can be had for cheap.  LMS's tune gives it over 90HP and 120tq more!

Hell, even a 2013+ SHO would be a different car really.  If you want to totally change it up, get a 2013+ MKS.  A black MKS EB with tinted windows looks great and is very rare to boot!

If I were to get a MKZ it would be a '13 or newer.  However, my favorite MKS is the '12 with appearance package.  I wonder why they stopped offering the painted rockers instead of the black cladding?

I was dead set on this car, until I seen it had no navigation... Deal killer...

This one has everything, but also has been wrecked...

Anyways, I'm leaning towards MKS.  Especially since my aftermarket parts would swap right over.  If anyone has a lead on a '12 MKS with Appearance Package in Red or Black with low low miles, let me know! I don't even care where it's at if its the right car.

2013 refresh got a lot of updates... heated and power steering wheel, lane keeping, remote start, MyLincoln, massage seats, larger trunk opening, and the new active suspension.

When I was looking for a car, I test drove EVERYTHING. 2014 Mercedes c300 (too small for me), 2014 Acura TL (Bucket seats made my love handles noticeable lol), 2015 Q50 (Loved the car, very pricy, wasn't blown away), 2014 G37S and 2014 G37 (sport bucket seats were the same as the TL, G37 seat all the way back was still too short), the 2014 MKS (interior was amazing, very upscale compared to the SHO, but I hate the front grille. Its a grandpa mobile), the 2014 MKZ (The biggest problem I had with the 2.0T is the Lancer / Passat Dual clutch delay. The dual clutch is supposed to help shifting, however, it creates a noticeable delay between shifts. The engine just didn't feel engaged with the road at any point in time) and the SHO.

I chose the 2014 SHO because of the engine, tune-ability, and the other features. The suede seats are very comfy, it has every single feature you do and don't want (rain sensing wipers, heated and cooled front seats, auto high beams, heated rear seats, good sound system, 20" flower wheels, digital interfaces, etc. Not even the q50 had the same feature set and that is Infinity's new flagship G series vehicle. I even went to the point to take the q70 out, but that was too high up in price for what I wanted out of a vehicle, especially since the Taurus SHO was faster, had more features, AND it was almost 20k cheaper.

My opinion is stick with the SHO, or go the Bimmer route with the 335xi. Both vehicles I did a lot of work and tuning with. Both vehicles are stupid quick. The MKS is great but grandpa like (no offense MKS guys), and the MKZ is the little brother who just isn't quite ready for the race.

Gotta agree... I drove them all too... Including a C7... The advanced driver assist and comfort level won out... Also add the point that you can blow up an MKS or SHO due to mods, buy a new one to start over, and still be ahead of the price curve

You're gonna love it.

My jump from 2013 to 15 was well worth it.

We're gonna need some details asap.

Well...
I drove a '14 Lincoln MKS.  Carry over model, had 420 miles.  I loved it, but seeing it in person made me feel like 14SHOCAR was right.  I probably looked like a kid borrowing Grandpas car.  The seats and THQ sound stood out above my SHO's.  I haven't seen the issues with the side bolster cracking in the Lincoln cars, unlike the SHO's.  Higher quality materials, wasn't super crazy for the wood trim, but all in all was a great car.
Next, I got into a '15 SS.  Super impressed by Chevrolet with this one.  Quiet, comfortable, and then you gun it and it wakes up!  Exhaust wakes up upon quick buildup of rpms, and then cackles as it regains composure.  That alone almost sold me.  Soft touch material everywhere, seats wrapped you up (maybe too much), and RWD.  Only major problem, RWD.  After owning an AWD car for 2 years, it's hard to beat the stuck to the road feel, especially come December.  I was having way to much fun with the SS.  They let me have it overnight.  That's when the fun ended.  Next day, on the way to the dealer the Nav screen froze (Had to reset off battery at the dealer).  It was hot outside!  The cooled seats were weak sauce.  Couldn't bring it home, wanted too, tried too, just didn't.  If I had only driven it on Friday, I would have owned it, and I think I would have been disappointed.
Finally, I found two SHO's within 100 miles of each other.  In fact, only 2 SHO's within 200 miles.  Both 15's, one was PP, other was a non-PP. I really thought I would only consider the PP, but after driving the non-PP, I was really torn between the two.  It was hard to tell any differences between the manors of the cars.  I know there are some slight differences, but to me it was more of a placebo effect.  Both rode great, both ran out hard, both had good tech.  The non-PP actually impressed me with the extra options not available to the PP.  And so, no PP for me this time.  Hope the extra cooling option included in the PP doesn't burn me, but I guess I've never had it in the past and never had trouble.  Talked my wife into getting it, all it took was the massaging seats haha!

Here's a teaser.

You'll love it... The amenities like ACC made my choice too... I use that constantly as an add-on to collision avoidance and preventing driver fatigue. You can retrofit cooling if wanted and the "how tos" are here. PP is a bit quicker on the extreme low end... But it's all give and take to fulfill the vision you have for the ride.  Congrats on the purchase.... Enjoy!
