Well I finally took the ol girl out to the drag strip this season, and unfortunately things did not go as expected. The entire day started off bad, I should have skipped the track but oh well. It started by me calling a gas station 33 miles away inquiring about the vp race fuel a friend of mine told me they sold. They told me come on out, they had plenty on hand and I could buy what I needed. When I get there they tell me the gas wasn't priced and they called the manager and he simply told them not to sell it. They told me and another friend to come out. So we both wasted time and gas to drive out there to give them business and they refused it. So as you can guess my blood was now boiling. A friend of mine who has a 06 GTO told me to come to the trac and hang out and his friend would bring me a bottle of torco and only charge me $15 for it (32oz). So I though ok great, ive only got about 5-10 gallons of fuel anyway so that would give me at least 100 octane. So I loaded up my LMS 100 tune after putting in the torco and got on the strip. My first pass I launched in normal mode and boosted at 2200 rpm. 13.77, not too bad but my last run last season was 13.59, was hoping to beat that. It was just downhill from there. I lowered my tire pressure to 25 and I started running 13.88-13.89. I started launching in sand mode and would switch back to normal mode but as soon as the traction control would kick in the car would just fall on its face. I even ended up with a 14 afterwards. So not a great track day, to finish off the night some drunk old man wearing sunglasses drove too close to the back of my explorer and rubbed the black paint off of his passenger mirror down the rear of my vehicle. His grandsons friend is supposed to get it off tomorrow at his detail shop. Very frustrating day to say the least. Even with all of that it was still a ton of fun to hang with friends and family and watch my buddy put up a 12.630 @ 108mph on his freektune tune and slicks only 2015 ecoboost mustang. Will do an oil change, rotate tires, clean air filter and use the actual Sunoco ms109 for August midnight drags and try and beat my 13.59 from last year. I will post up the link for my 13.77 (slow) pass a little later

A mixed bag indeed!  You didn't do too badly though :)  I think the PCM re-learn time will actually slow your vehicle down if you track it during that time.  Don't know how others with a 100 tune etc are dealing with it at the track.

Hope the detail guy does a great job of restoring your X ...

Yea I was hoping to have had the race fuel and was planning on driving it around for a bit, get used to the fuel etc. Decided just to test and tune instead of bracket race and I'm sure glad I did, cause it didn't go as planned. I'm thinking I should have just left the tires as they were and i probably would have had more success. I'll get that video up later. Here's a pic of it after I got off what I could with ease

Just an FYI, You have 5 gallons of 93, 32oz's of pretty much anything wont make it 100 octane. I ran my flex last friday on VP T5, and didn't put the race gas in until there was 20 miles left til E.  I only drove to the track with the race gas (No more than 13 miles) and managed a 13.2 at 104

Well just an FYI, not according to hundreds of people including my friend who runs it religiously in his coyote based mustang running low 12s and also according to torco. I've read time and time again on corvette forums, mustang forums etc. So believe it or not there's proof in the pudding http://www.torcousa.com/torco_product/un_acce.html

Also what is VP T5, VP racing has no such fuel listed on their website, not to mention their t series is for quads, bikes 4strokes etc

"Torco Accelerator is not just another fuel additive. It's simply a RACE FUEL CONCENTRATE! With many of the same additives our race fuel possesses, Torco Accelerator is a blend of components which will transform the make up of premium pump gas to closely resemble race fuel. Torco Accelerator will lower the end burn temperature which will make your fuel burn more complete thus releasing all of the power that your engine has to offer. Efficiency equals horse power! Mix 32oz of Torco Accelerator to 10 gallons of 91 Premium Unleaded to make an efficient 102 octane race gas, mix with 5 gallons of premium unleaded to make 105 Octane. Accelerator is unleaded, so it will not harm sensitive O2 sensors or catalytic converters. "

Torco is the real deal. It uses MMT to really increase the octane rating of the gas.  I used it a bit back when I had an SRT-4 and lived in Phoenix (91 oct + heat + boost = sad).

That said, I used it sparingly, usually only at the track and only when I couldn't get higher octane gas. There was a vendor at the track that sold VP100 unleaded, but if he wasn't there I kept a can of Torco around just in case. During the summer months I could usually get to one of the two stations in town that sold 100 octane at the pump (6 bucks a gallon at the time!) and mixed that in with the 91 (or I turned the boost down).  Torco left an orange residue all over the plugs.  I changed the plugs every oil change anyway so I didn't care too much. (The SRT-4 was hard on plugs and it took 10 minutes to change them)  I don't think I would use it all the time. For a once in a while thing it'll do the job in a pinch.

I much preferred to show up at the track with less than a 1/4 tank of gas and throw in 4 or 5 gallons of the VP100 though.

Well the proof is in the time slip. I have allot more heat. It was 90 plus degrees

Just saw your in a Exploreer. Same vehicle. What was your mph?
I have stock plugs, (40k miles) stock exhaust, stock intake. Anyway you could log so I could see where you were at?

T4 is unleaded, ethanol free 100 octane with a pretty low SG.

I saw t5 in your post not t4. I'd run ms109 over t4 as they advertise t4 for 4 strokes etc. I've run 13.59 before on just a 15% e85 blend and 91 non ethanol. My times were due to too little air in my tires and traction control killing it when it kicked in. So hoping to get some ms109 and run the 100 octane tune next track day after I let my explorer adjust for it. I'd def take race gas over torco, its just what was available so its what I used. 13.3 pretty nice for so little mods. Also it was 90+ and our da was 5200.
