Another 2013+ leaking valve cover...

I've been going over my "new" used car and noticed what I thought was a leaking rear turbo as it was wet with oil on the outside. I scheduled an appt. to have it taken care of under warranty but was swapping plugs out last night and sure enough got to #6 and it was full of oil when I pulled out the coil - so now I'm wondering if that isn't the culprit. Hopefully the dealer will get it sorted out quickly. I couldn't find a TSB in the post for this but it seems like a number of people have had this issue?

I had mine replaced under warranty last fall,replaced rear valve cover,oil seperator and the spark plug well seal,most likely you might have to leave the car there cause they might have to order the new parts,and there is a TSB on this issue,will try to obtain the work order for you if it helps any. Z

Thanks! That would be great if you find it. I see the oil separator tsb...I will give the dealer a heads up so hopefully they will have parts on hand.

I guess now you know why your rear bov was removed,(no dis intended)and quite honestly was afraid of this. Z

Yes but I wonder why they didn't fix it if someone noticed it and left the BOV disconnected...irritating.

I know there is a TSB for valve cover replacement for excessive smoke from exhaust

but not sure on the valve cover gasket leak itself.

I had this issue, but only the leaking of oil into the #6 spark plug well. About 2-3" of oil. I had no leaking visible and found it when recapping plugs. The dealer replaced the valve cover gasket and spark plug well seal only. No excessive soot and no smoking on mine. They did it under warranty and paid for the tow (I was concerned for fire danger due t turbo proximity)... But no TSB per the dealer as of about 15-16 months ago. No problems since. They repaired free under warranty. Took about 6 hours as they had the parts. On a side note... no comments on the PPE hotpipes or PPE down pipes other than compliments from my SA and the tech. Also be sure to regap plugs as the factory sets the in a wildly large and variable tolerance.

Mine is just #6 as well. Probably only an inch in mine or so. Hopefully the car won't burst in to flames before I get it to the dealer...I was swapping in new (properly gapped) plugs which is how I found this issue in the first place.

I just got my '13 a few weeks ago but I might need to take a look at my plugs. Anything else I should check for?

Make sure everything is plugged in!

My blow off valve on the back side was disconnected. Check for any leaks under the car...around the left half shaft, both turbos, and the PTU...

I had TSB 14-0196 applied to my vehicle back in 12/14 under warranty which consists of replacing the rear valve cover,oil seperator,etc,the reason me posting this was many of you asked me exactly what to look for and simply just look around the rear valve cover for any visible signs of oil,and also as mentioned above oil inside the spark plug wells,especially #6 is very prone to having oil inside but mainly the the rear bank #4,5,6,hope this helps someone. Z
