That actually is a funny story to begin with, and honestly no dis intended but you trust his driving ability and he's only in high school, sorry brother to disagree with you but doing 80 in my car is a red flag and a wakeup call to say the least, cause had a similiar situation years ago with my brother, lesson learned for me,at that age most of us thought we had nine lives, non one drives my car only the service tech.Z
I trust my brother at 120 more than my parents at 70.

All good points, but like Z, nobody drives my car except me and service techs.... I know what happens; I taught myself what happens during college when I once borrowed my brother's '71 SuperBee!

Pretty funny story.

When I was in high school, the bug eyed Impreza WRX had just released to the USDM. My older brother bought one almost immediately. He took long trips overseas on business. The agreement was, I keep it it looking spotless, I could basically "barrow" it while he was away.

Back then, that was a sweet car to have in HS. And blessed be, no smart, programable fobs to spoil my fun. XD

I did that to my teenage son...ummm dad I think the car is broken. It won't go over 75....
For the record I do trust my son with my car.  I even took him to the 1/4 mile track and let him run it down multiple times for his 18th birthday.  He is a very good driver and didn't have any problem handling the car.  But I was also a teenager once too and remember how invincible I was, and then throw a few friends in the mix and you've got a recipe for "check out how fast my dad's car is..."  and well...things can happen - even to experienced drivers.

Not to mention the risk of mechanical failure at those high speeds or random animal crossing the road.

Can't wait for my son to get old enough. Milan has a couple days a year where they let your kid run the 1/4 with you in the passenger seat. Has to have at least a learners permit.

I have extreme respect for my car. I bought my first Mustang when I was 16, it was just a 2005 4.0 v6 but a few bolt ons and a tune it could do 140+.. Then I bought a 2011 v6 stang when I was 18, didn't like it and then got my SHO when I was 19. All paid for with my own hard earned money. I'm 21 now and don't even have a speeding ticket! Knock on wood lol. Running quite a bit of power in my SHO, enough to get you in a LOT of trouble. I'm open to people driving my car, if I'm with them. The one exception is my buddy who also has a newer SHO and a 750 hp Shelby. After I let him drive my SHO (his is stock) he was amazed and let me take his Shelby out by myself! Now that's cool. Don't have any younger siblings but I don't think I could give them the keys if i did :O

It's also a function of your upbringing/lifestyle.  If you live/work on a farm, you learn to handle heavy machinery early.  A lot of kids get used to rough trails with ATVs, do motocross & all that stuff.  But one way or another, they have paid their dues before they get to the faster, on-road vehicles.  I wouldn't worry about it much at that point.

Your boss is lucky and I'd hire you in a heartbeat.

Not many kids like you these days.

Make sure you are saving some money every month.

Open up some kind of stock account and invest $100/mo in historically safe dividend paying stocks.

Contribute more when possible.

When you are 21, invest up to the max of what your company will match.

Do these things and you will be sitting on a Caribbean island retired at 50

Tell your parents job well done from FoMoCoSHO.

Thank you! Publix actually gives me stock per x am mound of hours I work. Pretty nice. And they have tuition reimbursement for college. Which would be bonus money for me since my tuition is already paid up through Florida prepaid. I get a nice bonus check every 3 months that I use to invest or put in savings.
