2013 SHO- burning oil through the exhaust

I know this was touched on already but I decided to start a new thread.

2013 SHO with tune, full exhaust, CAI, plugs, thermostat-

Every so often I'm getting smoke out of the exhaust and it smells like oil. I had the air filter off last week and it was fine and the car is fine at start up. It pretty much only happens if I'm on her(only smokes occasionally, not all the time). I heard of Ford replacing turbos on our cars so I'm wondering what you guys think. I have a private track rental on May 15th and don't wanna risk it if something is wrong. Thoughts??
-2013 SHO PP with Unleashed 3 bar tune, CAI, plugs, thermostat, off road downpipes and Corsa exhaust. Best time to date is 12.26@112.47mph.
-1990 5.0 LX(original owner) 349 BOSS block, Twisted Wedge heads, Holley intake, Vortech Si trim. Made 636hp to the wheels with a street tune.

Whats up BILL,there are a few things to check for,oil in the CAC(intercooler)intake,air charge pipe,pcv,oil seperator,any visible oil around the rear valve cover,any oil inside the spark plug wells,#6 cylinder usually the culprit,check and inspect plugs,any codes set,any performance issues like hesitation,rough idle,Z

Before turbo, I'd check the intake piping/CAC for oil pooling.  Also turbo pipes for cracks, especially near the clamping areas.  Your SHO may be in need of a valve cover update as well, though the jury's still out if that is a long-term solution to the PCV issue.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I recall last time we met at the track that Airaid was pretty dirty,hope you cleaned it,cause just like SHOdded mentioned oil in the intake piping since she runs better with stock air filter,SHOdded is the man.Z

Others that have this also have catless down pipes.   People think the lack of back pressure causes turbo seals to leak oil or the seals are bad and cats were hiding it to begin with. 

Could always go back to stock pipes and see if oil goes away.



Did you get rid of the 3rd cat?   Do you have a corsa?   Seems most that have this got rid of all cats.

He has catted DPs listed in his sig so I'm thinking this isn't it and I would expect bad turbo oil seals to be more of a consistent problem like smoking every time he gets on it.

My money is on PCV oil vapor build up in his intercooler that occasionally gets blown up into the throttle body under high boost conditions.

I am having the same issue..... new ATP turbos on the way for me!  The smoke I am seeing has a blue tint to it (burning oil) and has an oil smell to it.... called Livernois and confirmed my thoughts.... turbo seals.  I would only see the smoke after a wide open throttle pull.  Even if I was only WOT for a few seconds.  As soon as I let off the throttle, I could look in my rear view mirror and see blue smoke billowing behind my car, and when I got back on the throttle there was a big puff of blue that would come out.  So I just went ahead and decided to get new turbos and hot pipes as well.

haha.... welllll I don't know how aggressive I want to go with the tuning since it is my daily driver, and I am tired of fixing it..... BUT I am wanting more power for sure.  The new turbos plus a little tweak in the tuning, I will be a very happy man. :) Satin Black Coated pipes for me.

I was on the Dyno this weekend getting runs of my Livernois tune + plugs.... Near the top end of my RPM band, I was getting some black smoke through the exhaust. I'm going to be checking oil levels... I'm thinking at WOT with the tunes, we are getting some sort of blow by or??

Black smoke isn't all that bad. Our cars push a lot of fuel with mods which will cause some "soot" to come out at WOT.... the smoke we are talking about only comes out on the deceleration.  It is def. a blue smoke coming out and smells like oil.
